Jesus,
You know,
when I was a yoga teaching assistant,
around 2010-2011,
I often told our students,
“Smile when you’re painful.”
I’ve done flexibility exercises for about 23 years or more.
I’ve rarely felt painful.
So I’ve rarely told myself,
“Smile when being painful.”
Though I smile,
I smile because I love these exercises.
Now I smile because I’m painful.
Jesus,
thank you for praising me
every time I do each movement.
You always say, “Good”
in both English and Korean.
So I smile,
not because of my pain,
but because of you.
You make me forget my pain.
You make me happy.
You’re great.
I love you, Jesus.
Amen.
