While Peter walked on the water and came toward You,
he saw the wind and the waves,
he was afraid,
began to sink
and cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Instead of focusing on You,
Peter focused on the wind and the waves,
so he was afraid,
and forgot that he was the fisherman
(meaning, he knew how to swim and would not sink).(1)
I acted as Peter did.
When I were an Aikidoka(2),
I thought my sensei(3) liked my soul,
perhaps he felt it was always calm in tests
and nothing could make it fear.
The thing that my sensei wanted to teach us.
My soul was such still.
But I forget that thing when leaving the dojo(4).
In the test of my life,
instead of focusing on You,
I focused on the wind and the waves.
I was afraid
and cried out, “God, save me!”
I forgot I had the Still Soul inside me.
I forgot I had the Great Spirit inside me.
The past went away
but its lesson was precious.
Would You help me live my life with the Great Spirit?
Would You help me live my life with the Still Soul?
I love You, Jesus.
