Adam and Eva

Hi everyone,

I comment about Adam and Eva (in Genesis 2:15-25 below), about their relationship.

– God formed Eva so that Adam had a suitable helper. So Eva was Adam’s helper. And she was the suitable helper for him.

Eva was not the normal helper because she was formed from the rib of Adam. The rib of Adam was suitable for Adam, of course.

– Adam needed Eva because Adam would not be good when he lived alone. Eva completed Adam.

– Maybe the reason God formed Eva from the rib of Adam was that God wanted Adam to love Eva as he loved himself.

And maybe the reason God wanted Eva to be the suitable helper for Adam was that God wanted Eva to be the best servant of Adam.

– Had God formed Eva first and then formed Adam, the core of story  would have been still the same. The core of story has two things:

  1. God formed two persons but they were one bone, one flesh.
  2. They were suitable to each other. They were suitable helpers for each other.

– God’s forming Adam and Eva means God formed a sustainable marriage. So when we get married, we are in a sustainable marriage. We are one. We love each other. And we are the best servants of each other.

Thank you.

God be with you.

Genesis 2 New International Version (NIV)

Adam and Eve

15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”

19 Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals.

But for Adam[f] no suitable helper was found. 21 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs[g] and then closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib[h] he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

23 The man said,

“This is now bone of my bones
    and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called ‘woman,’
for she was taken out of man.”

24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.

25 Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.

  1. Hi Huong,

    Exactly!
    You are also beautiful!

I remember Matthew 19:4-6 in Holy Bible. Jesus said: “4 “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female, 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

I think if we remember things that God said, we will have a sustainable marriage ^^

    Thank you.
    God bless us, every one.

  2. What a lovely comment! Thu Huong, your comment is so meaningful to me. I have been married for nearly 3 years but I still do not know the full meaning of marriage. Your comment is really a vitamin tablet for my marriage. Thu Huong, can I use your comment as my wedding gift to my close friend?. He is going to get married next Saturday 🙂

    Thích
