Mary Magdalene anointed your feet
and wiped them with her hair.*
So, that was Mary’s way of washing your feet?
And she washed your feet in a luxurious way
(using a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard),
and the romantic way
(using her hair to wipe).
Her way of love was charming.
Then a few days later,
you washed your disciples’ feet, too.
But you washed their feet in the normal way of the poor
(with water and towel).
However your way of love was beautiful, too.
Did you copy her way of love?
Did you use her way of love to teach your disciples?
I’d like to think you learned from her because you loved her.
How you love her!
I love you both.
