Mạng Internet mới – The New Internet

Too bad! What can I say?

The New Internet

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

If you feel perfectly comfortable with the current state of the Internet —where high-tech companies change their operating methods daily without warning, and where all sorts of AI “thinking” decide who you are and what you are doing, treating you in erratic and unpredictable ways with no independent arbiter to hear your appeal, and where AIs clash chaotically with wildly contradictory information that is impossible to decipher — then you are truly a genius of the century. As for me, I give up: “I can’t make heads or tails of it, even though I’ve been working on the Internet for nearly 40 years.”

The world today is truly chaotic—not just because President Trump makes announcements and jumps haphazardly from one thing to another in a confusing manner that no one can fathom, but also because the AI forces operating on the Internet today are truly erratic and unpredictable, making it impossible to find one’s bearings.

So, how can we discern the truth amidst all this chaotic information and knowledge?

Friends, there is one thing upon which the world’s great teachers—from Moses to Shakyamuni Buddha, Confucius, and Laozi—all agree: stillness. When we are calm within, we become wise and gain a precise understanding of all things.

Each teacher has a different method for cultivating stillness. Shakyamuni Buddha taught meditation—specifically, contemplative meditation on the Four Noble Truths (as found in the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta): Suffering, the Cause of Suffering, the Cessation of Suffering, and the Path leading to the Cessation of Suffering.

Teachers in the Abrahamic traditions (Judaism, Orthodoxy, Protestantism, Anglicanism) teach us to focus on God, pray to God, and hold God’s hand at every moment of our lives.

When we possess stillness, we gain clarity and true wisdom.

This is something everyone knows, for everyone in this world understands that when we are still, our minds become wiser. Yet, very few people actually put it into practice. The vast majority of people in this world lack focus, flitting about like monkeys swinging from branch to branch, whenever they encounter difficulties or challenges.

Too bad! What can I say?

With compassion,

Hoành
