Fansipan – The highest mountain in Vietnam

Sa Pa corner

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today, I’d like to share with you a thing about Sapa that I’m so proud of. Can you guess what it is? It’s Mount Fansipan.

Known as the highest mountain in Vietnam, Mount Fansipan is 3.143 m above sea level. The mountain belongs to Hoang Lien Son mountain range. The reason why this mountain is named Fansipan is still unknown, but the name “Fansipan” is famous for many people who want to conquer the mountain.

In the old days, climbers needed at least 7-10 days to reach the top of Fansipan and come back. Climbing to the peak of this mountain required huge physical strength and many skills. Besides that, it was easy to get lost in the forest before reaching the mountain summit. Nowadays, conquering Mount Fansipan has become easier than before as people can get there by cable car within one hour.

I had a chance to go by cable car and climbed up about 600 steps to the summit of Fansipan 4 years ago. My first impression when I was at the top of the mountain was the freezing cold air. And I couldn’t believe the breathtaking views in front of me. There were layer upon layer of spectacular mountains. The while clouds were flowing like large and soft pieces of silk in the blue sky. The natural scenery was just wonderful, and it could melt anyone’s heart.

Until now, I can say that Mount Fansipan is always in my heart. The mountain makes me feel so grateful and proud of my town and Vietnam. I hope we all can be as strong and solid as Mount Fansipan.

Have a good one!

Cheers,

– An An
