Nghĩa hiệp cứu ngư dân Trung Quốc
NN – 16/07/2019, 08:35 (GMT+7) Ở huyện đảo Lý Sơn tỉnh Quảng Ngãi, những ngư dân từng ra tay cứu ngư dân Trung Quốc lại là người người từng ba chìm, bảy nổi bởi đạn cháy, rượt đuổi của tàu tuần tra hung hãn ở Hoàng Sa.

Tại đảo Lý Sơn tỉnh Quảng Ngãi, vụ việc các ngư dân đi trên tàu cá QNg 96169 TS, do ngư dân Bùi Văn Phải làm thuyền trưởng vớt được 32 ngư dân Trung Quốc trôi dạt vào sáng sớm 11/7 tại quần đảo Hoàng Sa đã tạo ra nhiều ý kiến xoay quanh việc “dù ra Hoàng Sa bị rượt đuổi, ép chế, nhưng thấy người bị nạn thì phải ra tay”.

Failing or Incomplete? Grading the South China Sea Arbitration

On July 12, 2016, an arbitral tribunal at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague issued its ruling in Manila’s case against Beijing’s claims in the South China Sea. Convened under the compulsory dispute settlement provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), the tribunal’s five arbitrators ruled overwhelmingly in the Philippines’ favor. Beijing refused to participate in the arbitration and rejected the outcome. Meanwhile, the newly-inaugurated president of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, downplayed the victory in the hopes of coaxing China toward a more conciliatory policy and, as a result, international pressure on China to comply with the award has evaporated. The ruling clarified important aspects of UNCLOS and customary international law, but there was never much hope Beijing would accept its findings.
30 years ago, Vietnam began building ‘ocean fortresses’ to fence off intruders

Vietnam launched an unprecedented project 30 years ago to plant about two dozen steel structures the Vietnamese call “ocean fortresses” in the East Vietnam Sea that serve as service stations for Vietnamese naval soldiers who exercise the country’s sovereignty at sea.
The DK1 platforms, formally the “economic, scientific and technological service stations,” were established under an executive order issued on July 5, 1989 by Do Muoi, then-sitting Chairman of the Council of Ministers, the country’s premier.

Hong Kong (CNN) A satellite image obtained by CNN shows China has deployed at least four J-10 fighter jets to the contested Woody Island in the South China Sea, the first known deployment of fighter jets there since 2017.
The image was taken Wednesday and represents the first time J-10s have been seen on Woody or any Chinese-controlled islands in the South China Sea, according to ImageSat International, which supplied the image to CNN.

The Philippines on Wednesday condemned the “cowardly action” of a suspected Chinese fishing vessel accused of abandoning a Filipino fishing crew after a collision in the East Vietnam Sea, while thanking a Vietnamese ship for coming to the fishermen’s aid.
The Chinese ship on Sunday hit a Filipino craft anchored near Reed Bank causing it to sink and leaving 22 crewmen “to the mercy of the elements,” Philippine defense secretary Delfin Lorenzana was quoted by AFP as saying in a statement on Wednesday.

China should ‘educate’ its crew members to refrain from such actions as driving away Vietnamese fishing boats working in the waters of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago in the East Vietnam Sea, following several cases that happened in the recent past, Vietnam’s foreign ministry spokesperson said on Thursday.

After a sharp drop-off in activity from 2016 to late 2018, Chinese clam harvesting fleets have returned to the South China Sea in force over the last six months. These fleets, which typically include dozens of small fishing vessels accompanied by a handful of larger “motherships,” destroy vast swaths of coral reef in order to extract endangered giant clams. The clam shells are transported back to Hainan Province where they fetch thousands of dollars each in a thriving market for jewelry and statuary. Since late 2018, satellite imagery has shown these fleets operating frequently at Scarborough Shoal and throughout the Paracels, including at Bombay Reef.

Năm 1971, lão ngư Phạm Tòa đã kể với chàng ngư dân trẻ Trần Đồng về những năm tháng bị Pháp bắt đưa ra đảo Hoàng Sa. Ông Tòa nói cứ ra đảo Hai Trụ thì sẽ thừa sức làm giàu.
