VietNamNet Bridge – Billions of dollars have been poured into the stock market within a short time, returning the market to its peak of 10 years ago.

Although records have been beaten, the market is different from the ‘bubble period’ in 2007. In early May, there were more sellers than buyers, a time when many people often buy.

A number of shares have continued rising in price after hitting new records. The VN Index is still on the rise after reaching a 9-year peak. Analysts said it has increased by 11 percent so far this year, or two times higher than the same period of 2016.

Ministry announces Việt Nam free of bird flu

HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Animal Health Department has declared that all provinces and cities nationwide are free of avian flu, with no new outbreak detected.However, a representative of the department also said several bird flu viruses such as A/H7N9, A/H5N2 and A/H5N8 could enter the country through transportation, business and consumption of illegally imported poultry products of unclear origin, especially in the northern border provinces.

THÁI BÌNH — An unexploded bomb weighing around 250kg was removed from Cồn Nhất Ferry in the northern Thái Bình Province, the provincial Military Command has said.

Trần Văn Vân, a local farmer, spotted the bomb at the ferry in Hồng Tiến Commune’s Cao Bình Village when he went fishing on Hồng (Red) River, provincial commander Colonel Nguyễn Đức Dũng said on Tuesday.

HÀ NỘI — As a mother of two, 32-year-old Nguyễn Bích Liên in Hà Nội’s Hoàng Mai District says working outside and doing chores exhausts her. Liên is typical of working women in a Vietnamese city, who work eight hours or more while still take care of most of a household’s domestic work.

Liên said she and her husband leave for work at half past six in the morning. On the way to work, they drop their two children – a 5-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old son – at their parents’ house where the children have breakfast, then the grandfather takes the girl to school and the grandmother looks after their son until late afternoon.

Drastically limiting the use of plastic bags, which do not decompose, the city’s People’s Committee has also asked the ministry to study and issue regulations on the use of nylon bags at markets, trade centres, convenience stores and bookstores.
