My dear friends,
This is the Vietnamese folk song – Quan ho – from the Kinh Bac region, in northern Viet Nam (provinces of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang). Quan ho is recognised as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO in 2009.
“Offering betel” is the Quan ho folk song that I love.
The betel play an important role in our culture. There is a saying that: “The betel begins the conversation” and so the song begins:
We meet here, let’s chew a betel leaf
