Prayer 414

The prayer series

Jesus,

Today begins great.
Good meal.
Good coffee.
The refreshing wind.
Soft sunlight.
Flowers and leaves are here.

So great.
Let’s open the Holy Bible.

What will we have today?

Matthew 23?
Okay.

“Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples:
‘The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat…
They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads
and put them on other people’s shoulders,
but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.

‘Everything they do is done for people to see:
They make their phylacteries wide
and the tassels on their garments long;
they love the place of honor at banquets
and the most important seats in the synagogues;
they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces
and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.’

‘But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’
for you have one Teacher,
and you are all brothers…
Nor are you to be called instructors,
for you have one Instructor, the Messiah.’

‘Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites!
You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces.
You yourselves do not enter,
nor will you let those enter who are trying to…

‘Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites!
You clean the outside of the cup and dish,
but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.
Blind Pharisee!
First clean the inside of the cup and dish,
and then the outside also will be clean.

‘Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites!
You are like whitewashed tombs,
which look beautiful on the outside
but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean.
In the same way,
on the outside you appear to people as righteous
but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness…”

If I were teacher of the law or Pharisee,
I would deserve to be cursed.

Jesus, please lead me not into temptation.

And help me love people more.

Amen.

  1. THE PRAYER

Dear God, Buddha, Jesus, Allah, Bodhisattvas, Saints,…

Sometimes I think about prisoners although I don’t know who they are, where they from and what they did.

I heard that in prisons they are not treated well and they live in miserable conditions.

No matter how bad or stupid they did, they are still your beloved sons and daughters. Please help them have faith in their lives and don’t feel self-pity.

Especially, for political prisoners, I don’t think they are bad. Maybe you just want them to learn to be more patient?

When I’m in my bed, I think that I’ll pray for some groups of people: prisoners, patients in hospitals, parents who lost their children,… But I only pray for one or two groups, I fall asleep quickly. I wonder myself “I pray for them because I want good things for them or I just want to fall asleep easily. Should I stop praying for them?” Please tell me what I should do next.

  2. Me too – “When I’m in my bed, I think that I’ll pray for some groups of people… But I only pray for one or two groups, I fall asleep quickly.”

Good sleeping is a gift of God.

And in sleeping, you and God keep on whispering although you don’t know.

God loves your sharing. So keep on sharing with God.
