Jesus,
I want to master English.
And I think most Vietnamese also want to master English.
Please help us.
Would you like to know why I want to master English?
I want to understand more about the English-speaking world
and I want to understand more about you, Jesus.
You know, I love Vietnamese.
And I think I start to love English when reading prayers.
An example in The Sacred Seven Prayers*:
“O Great Spirit of the West, the land of the setting Sun, with Your soaring mountains and free, wide rolling prairies, bless us with knowledge of the peace which follows purity of striving and the freedom which follows like a flowing robe in the winds of a well-disciplined life. Teach us that the end is better than the beginning and that the setting sun glorifies not in vain.”
Oh, this prayer is so deep, sweet and beautiful.
Thanks to it, I understand a little about the Native Americans’ hearts
and understand a little about your heart, Jesus.
So I want to master English
so that I may be closer to people
and closer to you.
Please help us.
Thank you, Jesus.
Amen.
