Despite high number of female Vietnamese labourers, inequality persists

Some 72 per cent of Vietnamese women have joined the labour force, higher than the average world percentage (42 per cent), and ranking only behind Cambodia (81 per cent).
Percentage of female labourers in the labour force of Viet Nam compared with the world, East Asia-Pacific, low middle income countries and Cambodia.
These figures were revealed in a recently-released report of the Centre for Development and Integration, a Vietnamese non-governmental and non-profit organisation.

VN female scientist receives L’Oreal-UNESCO prize for nano silver research

VietNamNet Bridge – Dr Tran Ngoc Dung, head of the Institute for Environment Friendly Technology, an arm of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, has received the 2017 L’Oreal-UNESCO Award for women in science.

Dung has played a leading role in researching and finding a method to make silver nano, an important material used to health care and protection, which is in high demand in Vietnam.
In an interview with reporters, Dung said the deaths of four infants at Bac Ninh Hospital of Obstetrics and Paediatrics in the northern province of Bac Ninh Province in November 2017 was due to septic shock.

Many coastal communities in Vietnam’s North and North Central Coast (NNCC), one of the poorest regions in the country, rely on coastal aquaculture, particularly integrated aquaculture farming systems for their livelihoods and sustenance.
