China on Thursday signed an agreement with the Mekong River Commission (MRC) to share year-round data on the flow of its portion of the vital waterway.

The move came amid concern that Chinese dams may be causing drought downstream in Southeast Asia.

A push for more data from China’s portion of the Mekong River – which Beijing calls the Lancang River – intensified this year after U.S. government criticism that 11 Chinese dams were “hoarding” water and hurting livelihoods downstream, an accusation Beijing denies.

Two Chinese patrol ships enter Japan's waters

Two Chinese patrol ships have temporarily entered Japan’s territorial waters off the Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea. The patrol ships exited the waters after attempting to approach a Japanese fishing boat.

The Japan Coast Guard has been warning the vessels not to reenter Japan’s waters.

The Coast Guard says two of the four Chinese patrol vessels that had been sailing just outside the territorial waters made the intrusion off Taisho Island shortly before 11 a.m. on Thursday. Taisho is one of the Senkaku Islands.

The Supreme People’s Procuracy on Monday issued an indictment to prosecute former Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang and his accomplices for their involvement in a violation case related to the land plot at 2-4-6 Hai Ba Trung Street, HCMC.

Former Director of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT)’s Light Industry Department Phan Chi Dung, Former Vice Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee Nguyen Huu Tin, former Director of the municipal Department of Natural Resources and Environment Dao Anh Kiet, and six others will also face prosecution.

Nếu các bạn đã đi những con đường dài, như là chạy xe qua vài tỉnh cùng một lúc, các bạn có lẽ đã nhận ra tính cách của các con đường: Khi thẳng, khi vòng, khi lên, khi xuống, khi trơn tru, khi lồi lõm ổ gà ổ voi, khi khô ráo, khi trơn ướt… Điều này thì chẳng có gì lạ với ai cả.

Điều nhiều người không nghĩ đến là ngồi trên xe khách hay chạy xe máy hoặc xe ô tô thì đường nào cũng như đường nấy, nói chung là khá thoải mái. Nhưng nếu bạn đạp xe đạp hay đi bộ, thì đó lại là một chuyện khác hoàn toàn. Đến một con dốc, nếu bạn đi bộ lên dốc, dù chẳng mang gì nặng cả, hay chỉ là một cây đàn guitar gỗ nhẹ bỗng trên lưng, bạn đi chừng 100 hay 200 bước là phải ngồi thở, và nếu dốc dài hơn 1 km thì chẳng biết bao giờ bạn lên đến đầu dốc. BEIJING: China threatened on Thursday (Oct 22) to retaliate against the latest US arms sale to Taiwan, as the island welcomed the weapons package but said it was not looking to get into an arms race with Beijing.

The Trump administration has ramped up support for Taiwan through arms sales and visits by senior US officials, adding to tensions between Beijing and Washington, already heightened by disagreements over the South China Sea, Hong Kong, human rights and trade.

PARIS — Bayer’s Monsanto division on Wednesday lost a final appeal in a long-running French legal battle in which the crop chemical maker has been held liable for the accidental inhalation of a weedkiller by a crop farmer.

Monsanto had been trying to overturn a decision by an appeals court in 2019 that had found the company’s product safety information to have been inadequate in relation to the accident involving farmer Paul Francois in 2004.
