THỪA THIÊN – HUẾ — The former Imperial Palace in Huế will be lit up every night thanks to a light system installed by the Huế Monuments Conservation Centre, the local government body that manages the monuments.
According to centre director Phan Thanh Hải, the lighting of the monument is part of a programme to welcome visitors to the former palace in the evening. Since it first opened to tourists in the 1990s, the UNESCO-recognised site has received visitors only in the daytime. During the night, the palace has remained closed.

VietNamNet Bridge – Shrimp waste – heads and shells – are being used to produce animal feed and biological derivatives, resulting in high profits and a reduction of air pollution at processing plants.

Six years ago in Ca Mau province, the ‘metropolis’ of the aquaculture and seafood processing industry, shrimp shells discharged from processing were in piles as high as a mountain.
Every day, Minh Phu Seafood JSC threw away 50-100 tons of shrimp heads and shells. The mountain of shrimp waste produced a bad odor after being exposed to the sun and rain.

HÀ NỘI — Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyễn Xuân Cường has submitted a variety of potential solutions to Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc to help the struggling pig-farming industry recover.
The move comes after the price of live pigs kept falling, dropping to VNĐ30,000 (US$1.32) per kilo in recent months. With no indication of an end to this downward spiral, pig breeders across the country are facing losses, the Infonet online newspaper reported.

VietNamNet Bridge – “It was a brilliant period in the post & telecommunication development history with enthusiastic leaders who had spirit of commitment, and who dared to reform, take responsibility and throw themselves in difficulties,” said Do Trung Ta, former Minister of Post & Telematics, now the Ministry of Information & Communications, recalling memories about the days of renovating the industry.

Daring decision
After the war, Vietnam entered a very difficult period. The post & telecommunication sector operated with outdated equipment and technologies. The telephone density in Vietnam in 1985 was just 0.2 machines per 100 people, 7 times lower than African countries, while the telegraphic density was 10.27 telegrams per 100 people, or 18 times lower than Cuba’s.

Today the five international judges for the Monsanto Tribunal presented their legal opinion, which include key conclusions, both on the conduct of Monsanto and on the need for important changes to international laws governing multinational corporations.

The judges conclude that Monsanto has engaged in practices that have impinged on the basic human right to a healthy environment, the right to food and the right to health. Additionally, Monsanto’s conduct has a negative impact on the right of scientists to freely conduct indispensable research.
