Hinduism, Weaponised: A Secular India Under Threat | In Bad Faith – Part 1 | CNA Documentary

CNA – Insider 9-4-2022

We investigate the reasons behind the weaponisation of Hinduism by the Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a right-wing, paramilitary volunteer organisation that aims to create a Hindu Rashtra – a subcontinent only for the Hindus.

From supporting cow vigilantes in Rajasthan attacking Muslim cattle traders to spreading Islamophobia across RSS-backed television stations, why understand why India’s secular fabric is under threat. Continue reading In bad faith – 3 parts

How do you feel about the world?

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The world curently have so many on-going wars that one can hardly keep us with the count: Russia-Ukraine, Israel-Palestinians, Columbia, Somali, Yemen, Afghanistan, Sudan, India, Philippines, Myanmar, Syria, Iraq… and almost every country of the world. In addition, today war is more sophisticated – beside biologial and chemical warfares (which are outlawed by international law), some rogue states – Russia, North Korea, Iran – constantly hold up the nuclear scepter. And there are psychologial warfare, misinformation warfare, hacking warfare, economic warfare – starving your opponent to death…

Map of ongoing armed conflicts (number of combat-related deaths in current or past year):  Brown: Major wars (10,000 or more) , Red: Wars (1,000–9,999), Orange:  Minor conflicts (100–999); Yellow Skirmishes and clashes (1–99)

So, how do you feel about the world today?

Have you ever thought about the world you are living in at all?

If you have been blissfully ignorant of the world’s woeful condition, then you are in deed ignorant, though ignorant in happiness.

Ignorance is bad – it is one of the Three Poisons in Buddhist philosophy – Greed, Anger, Ignorance (Tam độc: than, sân, si).

You live in a home, you need to always be aware of its state, physical and spiritual – where it needs to be fixed. Otherwise, the home will collapse on your head some day.

We have only one world to live in, we need to pay attention to our world.

It is an environmental matter, my friends. We need to pay attention to where we live: our house, village, city, country, world…

Many people have no idea about the world outside their family. For them, the world is too far, they don’t need to care, there are many world leaders working on world issues, why should the lowly me worry about the moon?

That would be like the attitude of some students: Why should I care about the school? I can’t do anything about its problems. That is the job of the principal and the teachers.

Well, we all know that a school with many students with such attitude will become a gangster hub very soon. Or it is already a gangster hub.

The environment we live in, be it village, city, nation or world, needs the attention and care from everyone of us. That is a natural matter, a logical matter, and a self-evident truth we all know by intuition, observation, and experience.

But what can I do for the world?

At the least, you can pray: “God/Buddha, please help our world be better.” That takes 2 seconds of your precious time. (“Oh My Lord, 2 looo…ng seconds of my ultra-busy time! I’ll be late for my meeting!” Busy Sir, can you pray for 2 seconds when you drive, to save you some precious time?)

If you don’t like praying. Then concentrate and say quietly: “I wish a better world.” That also takes 2 seconds.

Do that everyday, right after waking up in the morning is the best time.

That would be enough to be a relatively strong energy source to help save the world.

Don’t, never, ever, underestimate the power of your positive thinking, on yourself and on the world, at the same time.

Wish you all be positive to our world.

With compassion,

Hoành

Updated 1:39 AM EST, Tue November 7, 2023

One month ago, the Palestinian militant group Hamas launched a brutal assault on Israel, killing more than 1,400 people and kidnapping more than 240, according to Israeli authorities. It was the deadliest terror attack in the country’s history.

Israel’s retaliation has been lethal, with an air and ground campaign on the densely populated enclave of Gaza, which Hamas has controlled since 2007. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his country would take “mighty vengeance” and was readying for “a long and difficult war.”

The siege of Gaza has killed more than 10,000 people, according to the Hamas-controlled health ministry there. Gaza’s population is also gripped by humanitarian crisis after Israel cut off access to food, water and electricity. Only a “trickle” of aid has been allowed to enter the isolated territory, according to the United Nations. Residents are grappling with severe shortages, and power is running out as fuel dwindles.

500 Greatest Songs of All Times

Humility

Dear Brothers and Sisters

In primary school, I was taught: “You should be humble. When you see the poor, the disabled, you must lower yourself to their level to be equal to them.” I practiced that faithfully for many years, at least probably till I was in my 40s, but I always found it so hard to be humble. I couldn’t understand why.

Today, I have found the culprit. That is: The teaching I was taught contained these premises: (1) You are higher than many people, (2) Many people, including the poor and the disabled, are lower than you, (3) So, when you meet them, you humble yourself by lowering yourself to their level. Tản mạn về cơn mưa coi như đầu mùa

Tản văn

*PHẠM NGA

1.

Dự án khu đô thị quây núi đá vịnh Hạ Long làm ‘hòn non bộ’

tiengphong.vn

Have some good sense of humor

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

“Have some good sense of humor” is the equivalent of “Have some good comedy blood, hãy có chút máu hài/máu tiếu lâm tốt.”

Humor is good for you. It makes you often mile and laugh, it makes your bad situation look better, it takes life a little less serious so you don’t attach yourself to anything, it makes you happy, and most importantly it makes you youthful and beautiful. Notice that when a photographer takes your pictures, he often tells you to smile, because smiling makes you look youthful, happy and beautiful. Continue reading Have some good sense of humor

Can Anyone Challenge China’s Near Monopoly On Metals Powering Our Tech? – Part 1/3 | Power Scramble

CNA Insider
– 3-11, 2023

We want the newest gadgets, the most advanced electric vehicles, and a fully electrified future, but behind all of that is a class of critical metals: rare earths. These are the only metals in the world, to date, that can be used to create powerful and portable magnets, essential to everything from EVs to wind turbines. So why the worry? For decades, China has maintained an iron grip on the entire supply chain for rare earths. Today, demand is skyrocketing for rare earths, because the world is racing to electrify just about every part of our lives. Kartik Kuna is the first outsider to gain filming access to a particular magnet factory in Dongguan, China – one of many Chinese factories that are producing a huge majority of the world’s rare earth magnets. Just why is it so hard to outcompete China in this space? Kartik also witnesses for himself a startling statistic – China is building up offshore wind power capacity at breakneck pace… all of which requires rare earths. Don’t get pulled against your will

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We may get pulled against our will by money, property, career, business, job, big ambition, love relationship, jealousy, anger… Almost anything in life, be it money, power, or anything else, can pull us so powerfully that we may have to run after it with all our might, all our life, never stop.

Of course, if you get pulled like that, as we can see in many people, you will constantly be in extreme stress and will succumb to all kinds of fatal illnesses, such as stroke, heart attack, cancer, and many other diseases due to the collapse of the immune system. Opposition mounts in Arab countries that normalized relations with Israel

RABAT, Morocco (AP) — Arab nations that have normalized or are considering improving relations with Israel are coming under growing public pressure to cut those ties because of Israel’s war with Hamas.

Tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets of Rabat and other Moroccan cities in support of the Palestinians. In Bahrain — a country that almost never allows protest — police stood by as hundreds of people marched last month, waving flags and gathering in front of the Israeli Embassy in Manama.

The demonstrations, which mirror protests across the Middle East, present an uncomfortable dilemma for governments that have enjoyed the benefits of closer military and economic ties with Israel in recent years.

Why 70 countries in debt could spark the biggest global economic crisis since 1929

CNA Insider – 26-10-2023

Some 70 countries are in or at risk of debt distress – a record number that has the World Bank sounding the alarm. Debt defaults by these emerging and developing countries could lead the world into a global financial crisis perhaps even on par with the Great Depression of 1929. The pattern is clear from three previous debt waves: the Latin American debt crisis of the 1980s, Asian financial crisis of the 1990s, and the global financial crisis triggered by the 2007 US subprime crisis.
