As far as Viet Nam’s economy is concerned, sisters really are doing it for themselves.More and more women are running businesses across the country.
There are around 145,000 small-and-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) currently run by women in Viet Nam.
Such SMEs businesses play a crucial role for growth, contributing 30 per cent of GDP and more than half of job creation.
And a quarter of all SMEs nationally are run by women.

In July 2018, at the request of Quang Ninh Province, IUCN hired two consultants, Janet Mackay, Director of Tourism Recreation Conservation Consultants (TRC) and Wim Vrins, a solid waste management specialist, to advise on tourism and waste management in Ha Long Bay WHS.
After a 4-day site visit and meetings with government agencies in charge of site management, the mission found that while the geological values of the site are currently not threatened, with continued growth in visitor numbers and ineffective management of visitors and waste, the impacts on the site’s aesthetic values will cause a significant threat to its OUV.
Ha Long Bay’s postcard-perfect karst islets have long attracted travellers to its Unesco-approved seascape. In 2017, the destination (population circa 1,500), in northern Vietnam’s Quang Ninh province, welcomed almost 7 million international and domestic visitors, according to website Halong Bay Tourism. The region’s tourism department hopes to receive up to 16 million tourists by the end of next year, “and to rake in VND30-40 trillion (US$1.3-1.7 billion) in revenue”, it states, on its website.

Viet Nam News A group of 16 farmers in Tiên Hà Commune in the mountainous Tiên Phước district of Quảng Nam Province have joined together in a ‘green herb’ co-operative – a model that helps promote production chains of farm produce and herbs and develop eco-tourism. Covering 6,000ha of forest area, Tiên Phước District has great potential as a source of material for essential oils. Bùi Hoài Nam reports.

The drought is forecast to continue and become more serious due to the strong evolution of the El Nino phenomena this year.

Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — Egg coffee, a signature beverage of Hà Nội, is among the food and drink items being served to at least 3,500 local and international journalists covering the second Trump-Kim summit this week.
“Several groups of international tourists and journalists have come to our coffee shop this week,” said Vũ Khắc Sơn, manager of Giảng coffee shop where egg coffee was invented in 1946.

Summary:With data and modelling from almost 8,000 coal power plants, researchers present the most comprehensive global picture to date of climate and human health impacts from coal power generation.
Coal-fired power plants produce more than just the carbon dioxide that contributes to global warming. When burning coal, they also release particulate matter, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxide and mercury — thus damaging the health of many people around the world in various ways. To estimate where action is most urgently required, the research group led by Stefanie Hellweg from ETH Zurich’s Institute of Environmental Engineering modelled and calculated the undesired side effects of coal power for each of the 7,861 power plant units in the world.

India’s solar tariffs have literally been free falling in recent months’
India has cancelled plans to build nearly 14 gigawatts of coal-fired power stations – about the same as the total amount in the UK – with the price for solar electricity “free falling” to levels once considered impossible.
Analyst Tim Buckley said the shift away from the dirtiest fossil fuel and towards solar in India would have “profound” implications on global energy markets.
