Running on empty là một ca khúc được viết và trình diễn bởi ca sĩ kiêm nhạc sĩ người Mỹ Jackson Browne.

Đây là ca khúc chủ đề cho album live năm 1977 cùng tên của anh, thu âm tại buổi hòa nhạc tại Merriweather Post Pavilion ở Columbia, Maryland, Mỹ vào ngày 27-8-1977. Ca khúc được viết khi Browne lái xe đến phòng thu mỗi ngày để làm album The Pretender. Anh nói:

Mình mới xem bộ phim khoa học viễn tưởng – The Tomorrow War, ra mắt rất gần đây năm 2021. Thường thì mình không rảnh tự nhiên xem phim thể loại này nếu không có sự vụ gì đặc biệt muốn xem. Mình tình cờ xem được là do cháu mình học cấp 3, cần xem phim này để làm bài tập viết luận cảm nhận review phim.

Bối cảnh bộ phim, thế giới năm 2020 – con người nhận được lời khẩn cầu cứu trợ từ những chiến binh ở năm 2050, tương lai 30 nữa. Mở đầu phim một đoàn chiến binh đột nhiên hiện ra ở ngay giữa sân của một trận bóng và kêu gọi tuyển mộ chiến binh khẩn cấp gửi đến tương lai năm 2050, để chống lại sinh vật ngoài hành tinh – aliens. Not long ago, FTX was one of the world’s largest trading platforms for cryptocurrencies. Founded in 2019, the Bahamas-based crypto exchange had a meteoric rise to prominence, and was valued at more than US$30 billion earlier this year.

All that has changed in the past two weeks. First, concerns emerged about links between FTX and an asset-trading firm called Alameda Research, including suggestions that customers’ funds have been transferred from FTX to Alameda.

A few days later, rival firm Binance (the biggest crypto exchange) announced it would sell its holdings of FTT tokens, a crypto that reportedly comprises much of Alameda’s assets.

Panicked customers rushed to withdraw funds from FTX, and the company is now on the brink of collapse, with a banner message on its website announcing it is “currently unable to process withdrawals”.

ASEAN and China announce ACFTA upgrade

PHNOM PENH, 13 November 2022 – The Leaders of ASEAN and China welcomed the official launch of negotiations for the upgrade of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (ACFTA). The upgrade negotiations are meant to ensure that ACFTA contributes to the further deepening and broadening of ASEAN-China economic relations and to both region’s post-pandemic economic recovery. The announcement on the upgrade of the ACFTA was made at the 25th ASEAN-China Summit.

The ACFTA is ASEAN’s oldest FTA among its Dialogue Partners. Upgrading the ACFTA sends a signal to the private sector and all stakeholders that both ASEAN and China are committed to make the ACFTA more relevant to businesses, future-ready, and responsive to global challenges.

Cities like Haiphong in northern Vietnam have seen a recent boom in tech manufacturing.

The coastal port of Haiphong, Vietnam, used to be famous for aromatic noodle dishes and organized crime. Nowadays, it’s better known as a burgeoning industrial region, where electronics makers set up shop to escape the crowded south. Optimism abounds in a place like this. “We don’t just sell land, we sell the future,” Hoang Vinh Tuan, a manager at real estate developer Deep C Industrial Zones, told Rest of World.

World leaders are converging in Phnom Penh this weekend for the first in a series of international summits in Southeast Asia over the coming week, where divisions between major powers and conflict threaten to overshadow talks.

The first stop is the Cambodian capital where leaders from across the Indo-Pacific will meet alongside a summit of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) leaders, followed next week by a meeting of the Group of 20 (G20) leaders in Bali and of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Bangkok.

Hôm nay trên Foreign Policy có bài nói về sự sụp đổ chỉ trong một ngày của công ty tiền ảo FTX của cripto-wonderboy Sam Bankman-Fried. Đây chỉ là thêm một công ty sau một loạt công ty cripto sụp đổ hồi tháng 6, tháng 7.

Mình đã viết rất nhiều trong vòng 4, 5 năm nay là criptocurrency không đáng tin và hỗ trợ tội phạm chuyển tiền khắp thế giới, và các chính phủ cần phải cấm, hay ít nhất là quản lý nghiêm ngặt như quản lý hệ thống tiền giấy. Tiền ảo là tiền không có thật, nó chỉ là những con số. Khi gặp khủng khoảng, người ta thường “rút tiền” tức là đổi tiền ảo thành tiền thật để bỏ túi (như thiên hạ rút tiền ở ngân hàng); nhiều người rút tiền mà không có người thêm tiền thật vào, thì các công ty cripto không có tiền thật cho thiên hạ rút (kiểu như ngân hàng không đủ tiền mặt cho thiên hạ rút), thì công ty cripto sụp đổ. Bich Thao and her husband are still trying to get a son after seven years and five in vitro fertilization attempts despite knowing sex selection is illegal.

The couple, both 34 and from the northern Vinh Phuc Province, say they have been unlucky in that all five IVF attempts failed either to faulty embryos or a faulty Y (male) chromosome.

Thao married her husband in 2010 and their first child was a girl. With her husband being the oldest son, the expectation is that she, too, will produce a male heir.
