Chào anh chị em,

Nhiều người thuộc dòng Kitô giáo (Christianity – gồm Chính thống giáo, Công giáo, Tin lành, Anh giáo) nghe nhiều về Một Chúa Ba Ngôi nhưng vẫn không thưc sự hiểu. Đa số người hiểu rằng đó là ba Chúa – Chúa Cha, Chúa Con, Chúa Thánh Thần/Thánh Linh. Sự thật là chỉ có một Chúa với ba cách nói chuyện với loài người – Cha nghiêm khắc, Con đầy yêu thương, và Thánh Thần (hay Thánh Linh) trí tuệ và dũng mãnh.

Các tổ phụ cùa dòng Kitô giáo xác nhận Cha, Con, và Thánh Thần/Thánh linh là ba cách chính để Chúa nói với loài người trong ba thời kỳ khác nhau – thời trước Giêsu, thời Giêsu, và thời sau khi Giêsu đã sống lại và về Trời.

Và đó chỉ là Kitô giáo. Chẳng có lý do gì mà Chúa không thể đến với mọi xứ và mọi nền văn hóa khác trong những cách khác để đối thoại với họ – Ấn giáo, Phật giáo Nguyên thủy, Phật giáo đại thừa, Mazdayasna (tôn thờ Chúa Sáng Suốt) do Zorothustra sáng lập, Giàng của người Êđê, Ơi Adei (hoặc Ơi Adai) của người Gia Rai…

Không hiểu Chúa có rất nhiều cách để đối thoại với nhiều dân tộc và nền văn hóa khác nhau tức là nhốt Chúa trong cái hộp Kitô giáo (putting God in the Christianity box).

Các bạn, chúng ta cần hiểu Chúa để trưởng thành trong Tâm linh cho chính mình và để giúp thế giới trưởng thành trong tâm linh.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Many people within the Christian tradition (including Orthodox, Catholic, Protestant, and Anglican branches) hear a great deal about the Trinity yet do not truly understand it. Most people perceive it as three separate Gods: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. In reality, there is only one God who interacts with humanity in three distinct ways: as the stern Father, the loving Son, and the wise and powerful Holy Spirit.

The Church Fathers affirmed that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit represent the three primary ways God has communicated with humanity across three different eras: the time before Jesus, the time of Jesus, and the time following Jesus’s resurrection and ascension.

And that is merely the Christian perspective. There is no reason why God could not reach out to other lands and cultures in different ways to engage with them — such as through Hinduism, Theravada Buddhism, Mahayana Buddhism, Mazdayasna (the worship of the Wise Lord, founded by Zoroaster), “Giàng” among the Ede people, or “Ơi Adei” (or “Ơi Adai”) among the Jarai people…

Failing to grasp that God has myriad ways of communicating with diverse peoples and cultures amounts to “putting God in the Christianity box.”

Friends, we need to understand God in order to grow spiritually ourselves and to help the world grow spiritually as well.
