BEIJING (Reuters) – An aircraft carrier group led by China’s newest carrier, the Shandong, has sailed through the Taiwan Strait on its way to routine drills in the South China Sea, China’s navy said on Monday, after Taiwan mobilised its forces to monitor the trip.

While it is not the first time China’s carriers have passed close to Taiwan, it comes at a time of heightened tension between Taipei and Beijing, which claims the democratically ruled island as its territory.

A hands-on, take-no-prisoners approach by top echelons of the Communist Party has been a decisive factor in the success of Vietnam’s eight-year corruption fight.

This was highlighted by senior officials in talks with VnExpress that identified several salient features and factors marking the headway made by the nation’s corruption fight since 2013.

A total of 133 cases and 94 incidents of serious corruption and economic violations were directly handled by Vietnam’s top anti-corruption agency.

Ta Van Son, director of the city Fisheries Department, said a group of its researchers at Dong Mo Lake spotted the turtle on October 22.

Scientists weighed, measured and took samples for genetic testing and released the animal back in the lake.

Experts from the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Vietnam National University Hanoi analyzed its DNA and concluded it belongs to the species Rafetus swinhoei.

The south china sea is the most important body of water for the world economy—through it passes at least one-third of global trade. It is also the most dangerous body of water in the world, the place where the militaries of the United States and China could most easily collide.

Chinese and American warships have just barely averted several incidents there over the past few years, and the Chinese military has warned off U.S. jets flying above. In July, the two nations carried out competing naval exercises in those waters. Given what is called the growing “strategic rivalry” between Washington and Beijing, the specter of an accident that in turn triggers a larger military confrontation preoccupies strategists in both capitals.

The United States has designated Switzerland and Vietnam as currency manipulators for allegedly meddling in foreign exchange markets, sparking disputes with two trading partners.

The countries were labeled as such Wednesday in a U.S. Treasury Department annual report aimed at stopping countries from manipulating their currencies to achieve unfair trade advantages.

It is the first time the U.S. has branded another country as a currency manipulator since August 2019, when China was given the label while engaged in tense trade talks with the U.S.

Determining how many years a solar panel will last can take, well, years. Intended to function for 25 years or more, solar panels must be made to withstand the elements. In some cases, panels continue working well after their planned operational lifetime. Nowhere is this more evident than on the sunny hillside in Golden, Colorado, where the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) operates the Outdoor Test Facility (OTF).

Chính phủ bỏ quy định cấp phép tác phẩm âm nhạc, sân khấu sáng tác trước năm 1975 ở miền Nam và sáng tác của người Việt Nam ở nước ngoài.

Chiều 17/12, ông Trần Hướng Dương, Cục phó Nghệ thuật biểu diễn (Bộ Văn hóa, Thể thao và Du lịch), xác nhận với VnExpress thông tin trên.

Tháng 3/2017, Cục Nghệ thuật Biểu diễn ra quyết định tạm dừng lưu hành năm ca khúc trước 1975, trong đó có Con đường xưa em đi. Quyết định này được thu hồi sau đó.

My Lai Massacre, đó là cụm từ phía Mỹ lưu trong hồ sơ vụ thảm sát Mỹ Lai tại xã Tịnh Khê, TP Quảng Ngãi vào ngày 16/3/1968. Một nhân chứng sống sót được báo chí quốc tế và trong nước không ngừng nhắc tên là Đỗ Ba.

Nhưng còn một Đỗ Ba khác thì sống đời ẩn dật, vào định cư ở Trại phong Quy Hòa, tỉnh Bình Định, sau đó qua đời. Đầu tháng 9/2020, người con trai Đỗ Ba đột ngột gọi ra Đà Nẵng và nói giọng buồn bã: “Xin chú tìm giúp một nơi nương náu cho người em trai, xin chú giúp đỡ…!”.

Losing their natural habitat and food source, red-crowned cranes no longer call a national park in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta home.

For three decades, Tram Chim National Park in the reed fields of Dong Thap Muoi in Dong Thap Province has been famous as a natural habitat for the large East Asian red-crowned crane, among the rarest in the world and classified “endangered” on the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List of Threatened Species.

The cranes usually descend on the park from December to May, southern Vietnam’s dry season, to forage and mate prior to the onset of rainy, flood-prone weather.

But in recent years, the story has changed.

Sáng 15-12, Tòa án nhân dân tỉnh Nghệ An xét xử sơ thẩm vụ án hình sự đối với bị cáo Trần Đức Thạch, bị truy tố về tội “Hoạt động nhằm lật đổ chính quyền nhân dân”.

Bị cáo Trần Đức Thạch (SN 1952; thường trú tại xã Diễn Tân, huyện Diễn Châu, tỉnh Nghệ An), là lao động tự do. Trần Đức Thạch từng bị Tòa án nhân dân tối cao xử phạt 3 năm tù về tội “Tuyên truyền chống Nhà nước cộng hòa xã hội chủ nghĩa Việt Nam”.
