The massive mineral exploitation at four sites in Dong Hy district in Thai Nguyen province has led to serious consequences: the houses of 133 families have been affected by subsidence and cracking, and locals do not have water for daily life.

A pit belonging to Thai Nguyen Black Metallurgical JSC is located in a residential quarter.

Duong Van Tuyen in Hoa Binh hamlet in Cay Thi commune, whose house is located next to a pit, said many years ago, there was no serious problem because the exploitation was carried out at shallows.

A methane gas treatment plant will produce electricity from the decomposing garbage

Two Vietnamese firms and their South Korean partners have closed a deal on a project that will generate electricity from the largest landfill in Hanoi.

The two parties will cooperate in designing, constructing, financing and operating a facility that will gather, process, and treat methane gas emitted from decomposing garbage to produce electricity, according to the agreement signed in Hanoi on Tuesday.

Without a hint of nervousness on her face, Nguyễn Thị Kim Thu, 30, leisurely walks her daughter around the hospital’s campus. Skipping and talking non-stop after playing at the vegetable garden, Thu’s daughter asks her to take her to a small fish pond located at the back of the hospital, near the medical wastewater treatment zone.
