I’ve been reflecting about this friend, Ms Jealousy, lately. I notice when I look at my Facebook wall, I often feel jealous with my friends’ posts – “it seems” they live a more comfortable, luxurious life than I do; “it seems” they are travelling to many great places that I’ve never been to; “it seems” they have a house of their own at my age; “it seems” they have a car; “it seems” they are doing the jobs that I wanted… There are so many “it seems” that trigger some affliction in me. The ‘legacy’ of the infamous, and now defunct, state-run Vinashin not only includes a loss-making shipbuilder and its debt-ridden subsidiaries, but also a deserted multimillion-dollar steel in northern Vietnam.

In 2011, state-owned shipbuilding firm Vinashin officially collapsed. The company was ‘revitalized’ two years later under the new name of Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC).


Dust and rust are omnipresent at the plant.

Việc xếp loại hạnh kiểm theo quy định hiện hành đã vô tình “dán nhãn” nhân cách của một con người theo cách thức rất khô cứng và thiếu căn cứ.

Chưa kể quy định khen thưởng, kỷ luật học sinh mà các trường học đang áp dụng đã ban hành gần 3 thập niên nên không còn phù hợp với học sinh hiện nay.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam loses more than VNĐ24.6 trillion (US$1.08 billion) per year on tobacco, accounting for almost 0.97 per cent of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP), a World Health Organisation report said.

This includes medical costs of tobacco-related diseases, reduced productivity due to sick leave or early death.

Từ tháng 3.2016, Trung tâm phát triển Sáng tạo Xanh GreenID đã xây dựng cơ sở dữ liệu tài chính về điện than ở VN theo từng dự án ở tất cả các giai đoạn. Bà Nguyễn Thị Hằng, chuyên gia phân tích cơ sở dữ liệu của GreenID, cho biết đến thời điểm hiện nay tổng vốn đầu tư vào nhiệt điện than gần 39,8 tỉ USD.

A number of shares have continued rising in price after hitting new records. The VN Index is still on the rise after reaching a 9-year peak. Analysts said it has increased by 11 percent so far this year, or two times higher than the same period of 2016.

Trong chuyến công tác Trường Sa cuối tháng 5.2017, PV Báo Thanh Niên ghi lại nhiều hình ảnh công trình mà Trung Quốc xây dựng trái phép trên đá Châu Viên.

Khi tàu chúng tôi cập đảo Đá Đông A, từ đây dù cách xa hơn 10 hải lý (gần 20 km) nhưng bằng mắt thường có thể thấy đá Châu Viên. Nếu dùng ống nhòm sẽ thấy rõ nét những công trình mà Trung Quốc xây dựng trái phép trên đá Châu Viên.

THÁI BÌNH — An unexploded bomb weighing around 250kg was removed from Cồn Nhất Ferry in the northern Thái Bình Province, the provincial Military Command has said.

Trần Văn Vân, a local farmer, spotted the bomb at the ferry in Hồng Tiến Commune’s Cao Bình Village when he went fishing on Hồng (Red) River, provincial commander Colonel Nguyễn Đức Dũng said on Tuesday.

HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Animal Health Department has declared that all provinces and cities nationwide are free of avian flu, with no new outbreak detected.However, a representative of the department also said several bird flu viruses such as A/H7N9, A/H5N2 and A/H5N8 could enter the country through transportation, business and consumption of illegally imported poultry products of unclear origin, especially in the northern border provinces.
