The brotherhood of two young white-eyes

Sapa corner

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

It was about noon on a cold and rainy day. On an ailanthus tree, two young Japanese white-eyes (vành khuyên Nhật Bản) were playing together. They had white bellies, yellow throats, and moss green backs. Each bird had black pupils with white rings around their eyes. The white-eyes looked smaller than sparrows and were very active. With their little wings, they flitted from branch to branch.

After a while waiting for their mom, both little white-eyes started feeling hungry. The young bird asked its big brother, “Brother, when will our mom come back? I’m very hungry.”

The brother bird replied, “Don’t worry, dear. Mom will be here again soon and feed us with so many insects. Before long, we can find food on our own. We will also be able to warble like our parents and fly wherever we want.”

“That sounds great, brother,” the younger white-eye replied. “But I’m starving and cold right now. It’s hard for me to imagine the future with a grumbling tummy.”

Actually, the older birdy was also hungry. It just wanted to calm its little brother by saying something. From a branch, the bird hopped to its younger sibling. They stood close together and fluffed out their soft feather.

Leaning on each other, the two white-eyes felt warmer and warmer. The brotherhood between them made these birdies forget their hunger and the cold outside. Together, they just watched the rain and patiently waited for their mom to return.

Sharing with you this story.

Wishing you a day filled with love and warmth.

Cheers,

An An
