Truyện ngắn
Vào cuối những năm 80, do kiếm sống khó khăn, nhà ở mướn thì quá chật chội, tôi không thể nuôi chó dù vợ chồng tôi, nhất là con gái tôi, lúc đó mới 7 tuổi – đều rất thích có một chú cún dễ thương, chạy tung tăng trong nhà.
Một hôm, trên đường chở con gái đi học về, tôi phải dừng xe lại khi chợt chứng kiến một con chó ta bị xe hơi cán, gần như gãy lìa một chân sau. Chú chó kêu ăng ẳng đến chói tai, vừa cố lết vô lề đường vừa liếm lia lịa vào chỗ chân gãy, nhầy nhụa máu thịt.
