Viet Nam News Đỗ BìnhHÀ GIANG — Residents of Thanh Thuỷ Commune in Vị Xuyên District said they are still occasionally startled by an explosion somewhere in the mountains nearby, a cruel reminder of a bloody border war 40 years ago.

They first prayed that no one gets hurt by stepping on the unexploded ordnance (UXO) buried in the terrain throughout the north-eastern uplands, especially the northernmost province of Hà Giang, where the bloodiest battles were waged.

Bồn Văn Hòn lives just 10km from the centre of Thanh Thuỷ Commune but the journey easily takes more than two hours.

VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnamese researchers in Australia have announced a discovery which could be a breakthrough in the development of the solar energy industry.

The researchers from the Australian National University (ANU) headed by Dr Nguyen Trong Hieu are the authors of findings which may create a revolution in the industry.

While most research focuses on improving the quality of the core part inside solar cells, Hieu and his co-workers gathered strength on the thin film layer on the top of the cell, which is several thousand times thinner than human hair. The thin layer is used to conduct electricity from the cell and protect the core part.

(TBKTSG) – Chỉ trong hai tháng đầu năm 2019, nông dân nhiều vùng trồng lúa ở đồng bằng sông Cửu Long (ĐBSCL) như các tỉnh An Giang, Kiên Giang, Đồng Tháp, Hậu Giang, Cần Thơ, Sóc Trăng, Tiền  Giang, Long An… như ngồi trên đống lửa. Không lo sao được khi hạt lúa rớt giá liên tục và đang rơi vào ngưỡng lỗ, đặc biệt những nông dân nghèo phải vay tiền làm ruộng hay mướn đất canh tác trong khi giá phân bón và các loại vật tư nông nghiệp khác, kể cả dịch vụ nông nghiệp, đều tăng.

Reading Between the Lines: The Next Spratly Legal Dispute

In August 2018, the HMS Albion sailed through the Paracel Islands to assert freedom of navigation and challenge China’s claim to straight baselines around the island group. The United Kingdom’s challenge was the first operation by a non-U.S. vessel in the South China Sea that was analogous to the United States’ now well-publicized freedom of navigation operations (FONOPs). Three months later, the USS Chancellorsville undertook an identical challenge to Beijing’s baselines around the Paracels. Similar operations had been undertaken by the USS Decatur in October 2016 and the USS Chafee in October 2017.

TTCT – Câu hỏi đặt ra là tại sao đến nay việc phân biệt giữa hai dòng sản phẩm nước mắm truyền thống và nước mắm pha chế (còn gọi là nước mắm công nghiệp) vẫn chưa rạch ròi từ các cơ quan quản lý nhà nước để người tiêu dùng dễ dàng chọn lựa?

Tiêu chuẩn không phù hợp

Với tuổi đời hàng trăm năm hình thành và phát triển, nghề làm nước mắm truyền thống tại Phan Thiết (Bình Thuận) đã trải qua nhiều thăng trầm, để hôm nay thị trường biết tới như là “thủ phủ”. Theo ông Trương Quang Hiến – chủ tịch Hiệp hội Nước mắm Phan Thiết, chỉ riêng 42 hội viên của hiệp hội thì mỗi năm sản xuất ra khoảng 20 triệu lít, chưa kể các hộ kinh doanh nhỏ lẻ.

VietNamNet Bridge – Luc Van Tan, a HCM City resident, is considering installing solar power panels on his 35sq.m rooftop to save on electricity bills.

But the initial investment for the panels has made Tan think twice.

It costs between VND25 million (US$1,070) and VND30 million ($1,280) for each 10sq.m panel. That means Tan would have to spend about VND90 million ($3,840).

In spite of the long-term profits solar power brings, many families hesitate to install the panels due to the cost.

Mọi bệnh tật và xui xẻo trong cuộc sống đều được lý giải là bởi oán hồn gây ra. Muốn thoát nạn thì buộc phải “trả nợ” cho vong từ vài triệu đến hàng chục triệu đồng thông qua hình thức công đức vào nhà chùa. Hoạt động này đã công khai diễn ra từ nhiều năm nay tại chùa Ba Vàng (Uông Bí, Quảng Ninh) – một cơ sở thờ tự lớn và rất nổi tiếng ở phía Bắc.

Viet Nam NewsHÀ NỘI — Police in northern Bắc Ninh Province’s Thuận Thành District have detained Nguyễn Bá Mạnh for disseminating false information regarding the widespread tapeworm infections on Facebook.

Mạnh, 33, from Thuận Thành District’s Ngũ Thái Commune was summoned by local police on Tuesday for a Facebook post stating local Ngũ Thái Kindergarten had used tapeworm-infected pork on meals cooked for children.
