Co Loa – the oldest citadel in Vietnam

VietNamNet Bridge – Co Loa Citadel was built near Phong Khe, about 20 km to the north of today’s Hanoi, during the end of the Hong Bang Dynasty (about 257 BCE). The fortress is a spiral-shaped complex of the then new capital. The site was the source of various relics of the Dong Son culture of the Bronze Age.

According to folklore, An Duong Vuong defeated the last of the Hung Kings in 257 BCE and founded the kingdom of Au Lac, choosing the site of Co Loa as his capital.

Philippines launches campaign to free one million child workers

Government figures show that nearly three million children in the Philippines are working in dangerous jobs.

Many of those are involved in the small-scale gold mining industry.

Authorities have launched a campaign to try and free at least one million child workers by 2025.

Soul man là bài hát được Isaac Hayes và David Porte sáng tác năm 1967 và được Samuel “Sam” Moore và David “Dave” Prater trình diễn.

Bài hát đứng thứ 463 trong danh sách 500 Bài hát hay nhất trong mọi thời đại cùa báo nhạc Rolling Stone.

Soul là linh hồn.  Nhạc của người nô lệ da đen ngày xưa gọi là soul music, là các bài hát đến từ sâu thẳm trong tâm hồn của người nô lệ buồn thảm.  Soul là biểu tượng của, và đôi khi dùng đồng nghĩa với, da đen.

Isaac Hayes và David Porte soạn bài hát này trong thời Phong trào Dân quyền (Civil Rights Movement) của người da đen tranh đấu cho quyền bình đẳng ở Mỹ trong thâp niên 1960.  Tháng 7/1967, trong một lần xem bản tin trên TV về cuộc nổi loạn bạo động của người da đen ở tiểu bang Michigan, Isaac Hayes nhận thấy những tiệm của người da đen có viết chữ “soul” trên cửa tiệm thì không bị đập phá.  Điều này cho Isaac Hayes cảm hứng để lấy ý cho bài hát này, về một người da đen tự hào và hãnh diện về chính mình.

Soul man có nghĩa là người của nhạc soul, người da đen, hay người có tâm hồn sâu thẳm.  Trong bài dịch dưới đây, chúng ta tạm dùng từ “người tình cảm” để dịch từ “soul man”, ghi nhớ rằng “soul man” có nhiều nghĩa như trên.

The trend started at a restaurant on Thai Ha Street. The images of young men without a shirt on and hot body made many curious and went to the restaurant to see for themselves.

Tran Thai Linh, a local in Dong Da District, said she also went to the restaurant out of curiosity but then she was disappointed after discovering that the men only appeared for two minutes when the restaurant introduce new dishes.
