We live with people and work with people, therefore communication is a crucial matter in living and working. Good communication helps everyone understand each other more, misunderstand each other less, and therefore make life and work much smoother, more effective, and more pleasant.

Miscommunication – one says something, the other understands something else – is an extremely common daily problem. If you pay attention to the communication between you and someone very close in the family, such as your mom, and count the times you and mom misunderstand each other’s talk, you will find that miscommunication happens daily, each day several times. The will is the ultimate function of the mind/heart. Confucius said: “Among three persons walking together, one must be my teacher” (Tam nhân đồng hành, tất hữu ngã sư). It means, you have at least 1/3 of people in the world to be your teachers. That is a reminder for you to remember that many people around you can teach you one thing or another.

These ideas are not someone’s daydreaming. Most spiritual traditions understand the super-power of the human heart. Buddhism talks about the Buddhahood in us. The Abrahamic tradition (Judaism, Christianity – Orthodox, Catholic, Protestant – and Islam) says we are children of God with God’s Holy Spirit in us. US university students are now protesting all over the US, and students in other countries over the world are doing the same, to support the Palestinians in stopping the Israel – Hamas war. Israel, with the support of US, stubbornly continues the warring way, which is the most destructive war since World War II.

The lesson is that you cannot prolong injustice for too long. Oppressed people always find ways to fight back. Vietnam history has proven that point over and over again, with many victorious wars against foreign invasion armies. Calling them stupid or terrorist or troublemakers doesn’t help. Killing them, torturing them, imprisoning them don’t help. Oppressed people will find ways to fight back until they are free. Continue reading Be nice and have peace →
