Kseniya Simonova của Ukraine đã nâng nghệ thuật vẽ tranh bằng cát lên một tầng nghệ thuật mới. Chỉ bằng hai bàng tay và một nắm cát, cô kể một câu chuyện dài về hoà bình và chiến tranh, của hạnh phúc và đổ vỡ, của thế chiến thứ 2 mà Ukraine, cũng như nhiều quốc gia khác, vướng phải. Và cô kể với cả một tâm tình và xúc động toàn thân đến nỗi nhiều khán giả phải rơi lệ.
Đây là một nghệ thuật mới, có hội hoạ, có diễn xuất, có âm thanh và nhạc nền, và có khán giả rơi lệ. Người ta gọi là sand animation, nhưng từ này hình như không mang lại đầy đủ công lý cho nghệ thuật này. Trong màn trình diễn của Simonova, nó gần với bi kịch (tragedy) hơn là animation của Walt Disney.

Bản “Tennessee Waltz” được sáng tác bởi Redd Stewart và Pee Wee King vào năm 1947 kể về câu chuyện “xoay tròn” đó.
Hôm đó, Pee Wee King đang lái chiếc xe truck và nghe radio, khi anh đang nghe “Kentucky Waltz” của Bill Monroe. Anh nghĩ, cũng cần có một bản Waltz cho bang Tennessee nữa, và anh bắt đầu nghĩ về lời nhạc. Anh lấy thứ duy nhất anh có thể viết được vào lúc đó, những que điêm để viết nên những lời nhạc đầu tiên. Sau đó, cùng với sự giúp đỡ của ca sĩ Redd Stewart, bài hát đã được hoàn thành.

Theo mình, còn một yếu tố nữa, đó chính là tiểu bang Tennesee mà bài hát hát về, một tiểu bang hoang vu vắng vẻ với cánh đồng bao la và đường chân trời trải dài ở vùng Mid West của Mỹ, như Mù Căng Chải đối với Việt Nam. Ở nơi đó, giai điệu Van xơ thật đẹp và lãng mạn.

Khi nghe cha mẹ bàn về bệnh tình của cậu em trai Andrew, những gì cô bé Tess thông minh lên 8 tuổi biết được là em mình mắc bênh rất nặng và gia đình đã cạn kiệt tiền. Gia đình họ sắp chuyển đến một khu chung cư vào tháng tới vì cha không có đủ để trả tiền nhà và tiền thuốc của bác sĩ. Cần có một ca phẫu thuật với chi phí rất cao mới có thể cứu được em trai nhưng ngặt nổi không có ai cho gia đình em vay mượn. Em nghe cha tuyệt vọng nói nhỏ với mẹ đang đầm đìa nước mắt: “Chỉ có phép nhiệm mầu mới có thể cứu được thằng bé thôi!”.
Tess về phòng mình và lôi ra từ chỗ giấu một hủ đựng kẹo bằng thủy tinh với số tiền em đã dành dụm bấy lâu nay. Cô bé đổ hết số tiền lẻ ra sàn đếm kỹ lưỡng, đến những 3 lần. Phải thật chinh xác về tổng số tiền. Không thể nhầm lẫn. Rồi cẩn thận bỏ số tiền xu vào hủ đậy nắp lại, em vội lẻn ra cửa sau và chạy thẳng đến một tiệm thuốc tây tên Rexall cách 6 khu nhà.
Em đứng trước cửa hiệu một cách kiên nhẫn để gợi sự chú ý của người dược sĩ, nhưng ông ta mãi chuyện với một người khác không buồn để ý đến một con bé 8 tuổi. Đoạn em dùng chân gõ lên sàn nhà. Không tác dụng. Em hắng giọng để tạo ra tiếng động khó chịu nhất nhưng vô ích. Cuối cùng em lấy một đồng 25 xu gõ mạnh lên tủ kính và người dược sĩ cất giọng một cách khó chịu: “Cháu muốn gì hả cháu bé? Ông ta nói ngay không đợi Tess trả lời. “Cháu không thấy ta đang nói chuyện với người anh từ Chicago xa cách bao nhiêu năm trời hay sao?”. Tess cũng trả lời với vẻ bực bội:
“Cháu cũng muốn nói chuyện với chú về em trai của cháu đây. Em ấy đang ốm, ốm nặng lắm, và cháu đến đây để mua … phép mầu nhiệm”.
“Cháu muốn mua gì?”. Người dược sĩ tròn mắt với vẻ không hiểu.
Em cháu tên là Andrew và em ấy chịu đựng cái gì đó đau lắm ở trong đầu. Cha cháu nói rằng chỉ có phép nhiệm mầu mới cứu được em. Vậy phép nhiệm mầu bán với giá bao nhiêu hả bác?”.
“Ở đây không bán thứ đó cháu bé ạ. Chú rất tiếc không giúp cháu được.” – giọng người dược sĩ dịu lại.
“Nhưng thưa chú, cháu có tiền trả mà. Nếu không đủ cháu sẽ đi mượn thêm. Xin cho cháu biết giá bao nhiêu ạ.” – giọng Tess van nài.
Người anh của ông dược sĩ ăn mặc rất đẹp. Ông nghiêng người xuống hỏi Tess: “Thế em cháu cần phép nhiệm mầu gì?” Tess trả lời như muốn khóc. ”Cháu không biết ạ,” Cháu chỉ biết em ốm nặng. Mẹ nói em cần được mổ. Nhưng bố không đủ tiền trả, vì vậy cháu muốn dùng tiền của cháu.”
Ông ta hỏi, “Thế cháu có bao nhiêu?”
” 1 đô và 11 xu. Đó là những gì cháu có, nhưng cháu có thể mượn thêm được mà.” Tess nói to.

Người đàn ông ấy chính là Carlton Armstrong, một bác sĩ chuyên về giải phẫu thần kinh. Cuộc phẫu thuật đã rất thành công mà không hề tốn kém bất cứ chi phí nào. Em trai Andrew hồi phục nhanh và sống khoẻ mạnh. Cha mẹ Tess vui hơn lúc nào hết về chuỗi sự việc đưa đẩy đến. Mẹ em thì thầm: ” Bác sĩ giải phẫu ấy, thật sự là một phép màu. Mẹ không biết mình phải trả bao nhiêu tiền? “.
Tess mỉm cười. Cô bé biết chính xác số tiền đó…1 đô và 11 xu… cộng thêm niềm tin chân thành của một đứa trẻ.

Tess was a precocious eight years old when she heard her Mom and Dad talking about her little brother, Andrew. All she knew was that he was very sick and they were completely out of money. They were moving to an apartment complex next month because Daddy didn’t have the money for the doctor bills and our house. Only a very costly surgery could save him now and it was looking like there was no-one to loan them the money.She heard Daddy say to her tearful Mother with whispered desperation, “Only a miracle can save him now.”
Tess went to her bedroom and pulled a glass jelly jar from its hiding place in the closet. She poured all the change out on the floor and counted it carefully. Three times, even. The total had to be exactly perfect. No chance here for mistakes. Carefully placing the coins back in the jar and twisting on the cap, she slipped out the back door and made her way 6 blocks to Rexall’s Drug Store with the big red Indian Chief sign above the door.
She waited patiently for the pharmacist to give her some attention but he was too intently talking to another man to be bothered by an eight year old at this moment. Tess twisted her feet to make a scuffing noise. Nothing. She cleared her throat with the most disgusting sound she could muster. No good. Finally she took a quarter from her jar and banged it on the glass counter. That did it!
“And what do you want?” the pharmacist asked in an annoyed tone of voice. “I’m talking to my brother from Chicago whom I haven’t seen in ages,” he said without waiting for a reply to his question.
“Well, I want to talk to you about my brother,” Tess answered back in the same annoyed tone. “He’s really, really sick … and I want to buy a miracle.”
“I beg your pardon?” said the pharmacist, giving her a surprised look.
“His name is Andrew and he has something bad growing inside his head and my Daddy says only a miracle can save him now. So how much does a miracle cost?”
“We don’t sell miracles here, little girl. I’m sorry but I can’t help you.” the pharmacist said, softening a little.
”Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn’t enough, I will get the rest. Just tell me how much it costs, ” Tess begged.
The pharmacist’s brother was a well dressed man. He stooped down and asked the little girl, “What kind of a miracle does you brother need?”
“I don’t know,” Tess replied with her eyes welling up. “I just know he’s really sick and Mommy says he needs a operation. But my Daddy can’t pay for it, so I want to use my money. “How much do you have?” asked the man from Chicago.
“One dollar and eleven cents,” Tess answered barely audibly. “And it’s all the money I have, but I can get some more if I need to.”
“Well, what a coincidence,” smiled the man. “A dollar and eleven cents — the exact price of a miracle for little brothers.” He took her money in one hand and with the other hand he grasped her and said, “Take me to where you live. I want to see your brother and meet your parents. Let’s see if I have the kind of miracle you need.”
That well dressed man was Dr. Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon, specializing in neuro-surgery. The operation was completed without charge and it wasn’t long until Andrew was home again and doing well. Mom and Dad were happily talking about the chain of events that had led them to this place. “That surgery,” her mom whispered. “was a real miracle. I wonder how much it would have cost?”
Tess smiled. She knew exactly how much a miracle cost… one dollar and eleven cents….plus the faith of a little child.

Tên của ban nhạc do tập hợp các chữ đầu tên của bốn thành viên tạo thành: Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson và Agnetha Fältskog.

Năm 2008, bộ phim “Mamma Mia!” trong đó được công chiếu ,và đạt giải thưởng cao ở nhiều nước. Album nhạc phim “Mamma Mia!”, bộ phim ca nhạc rất ăn khách với những ca khúc nổi tiếng của ban nhạc huyền thoại ABBA giành vị trí số 1 trong bảng xếp hạng album bán chạy nhất Bắc Mỹ, Billboard 200
Năm 2008, album “ABBA Gold: Greatest Hits” trở thành album đứng đầu bản xếp hạng nhiều lần nhất ở Anh, xếp vị trí thứ ba trong số các album bán chạy nhất ở Anh.
ABBA đã được đề cử vào Vocal Group Hall of Fame ( Đại Sảnh Danh Vọng) và trong năm 2009 này được đề cử lưu danh vào Bảo tàng Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tại Mỹ.

+Anni-Frid Lyngstad (1945) (tên gọi thân mật là Frida), bà bắt đầu sự nghiệp vào năm 13 tuổi, đã từng đoạt giải trong cuộc thi Eurovision ở Thụy điển.Bà sở hữu chất giọng trầm và truyền cảm. Bà là một trong hai ca sĩ chính trong ban nhạc.
+ Agnetha Fältskog (1950) bà bắt đầu sự nghiệp ca hát năm 17 tuổi, đặc biệt nổi tiếng với 2 đĩa Jag Var Sa Kar và Utan Dej (bán chạy hơn các đĩa của Beatles tại Thụy Điển). Khác với Frida, bà sỡ hữu chất giọng cao, trong. Bà là một trong hai ca sĩ chính, là linh hồn của ban nhạc.
Ban nhạc pop Thụy Điển ABBA thực hiện các hoạt động biểu diễn chính thức từ 1972 đến 1983, nhưng chúng ta có thể nói rằng ABBA sẽ còn tồn tại mãi với kho tàng âm nhạc của nhân loại trong lòng người mến mộ nhiều thế hệ.

Nỗi sợ tuổi già là một ám ảnh của nhiều người khi bước vào tuổi trung niên trở đi. Người ta xem già là một điều đáng sợ, hay một điều thiệt thòi bất lợi. Ta thử nghe những câu chuyện hàng ngày của một số chị em phụ nữ khi thoái thác điều gì đó:
“Thôi, mình già rồi.! Để cho cánh trẻ làm”
Hay nghe vài câu ngăn cản : “Già rồi, làm chi cho lắm!”
Đa số chúng ta rồi sẽ bắt gặp chính mình một ngày nào đó soi gương, và lo lắng: Trong gương chẳng phải là khuôn mặt thanh tú duyên dáng, với đôi má hồng đào, mái tóc đen nhánh, mà là một khuôn mặt bắt đầu xuất hiện những nếp nhăn, và mái tóc nhiều sợi bạc.
Thực ra tuổi già không đến nỗi đáng sợ như ta thường nghĩ. Đây là qui luật muôn đời. Sinh lão bệnh tử.
Những tư tưởng sau sẽ cho ta hiểu rõ hơn một quan điểm tích cực về tuổi già
“Tùy theo cách sống mà mỗi người có thể chết già ở tuổi 40 hay chết trẻ ở tuổi 80” Vô Danh.
“Tuổi xuân và tuổi già không phải tính bằng ngày tháng mà bằng trạng thái tinh thần. Nhiệm vụ của chúng ta không phải là thêm tuổi vào cuộc đời mình mà là thêm sức sống vào tuổi tác của mình……” Myron J. Taylor.

Vấn đề là chúng ta đã sống như thế nào những năm tháng đời mình. Cũng có những người dường như đã già khi họ chỉ mới 30 tuổi. Và ngược lại, những vĩ nhân 60, 70 tuổi mà khả năng trí tuệ của họ chưa suy yếu và sức cống hiến của họ còn rất cao
.
Bạn có sợ già không? Nếu có điều này cũng dễ hiểu. Nhưng bạn sẽ thấy rằng nỗi sợ tuổi già sẽ khiến bạn càng dễ già nhanh hơn khi những nỗi lo lắng xâm chiếm tâm trí bạn.
Không ai già đi chỉ vì đã sống qua nhiều năm tháng. Người ta chỉ thực sự già đi vì đánh mất lý tưởng và vẻ đẹp tâm hồn của mình. Năm tháng có thể in hằn những vết nhăn trên da nhưng không thể in hằn những vết nhăn lên tâm hồn. Chính bạn mới là người góp phần khiến mình mau chóng già hơn. Lo lắng, buồn phiền, ngờ vực, sợ hãi và thất vọng .., những hạt giống tiêu cưc này mới chính là những độc tố làm cho con người phải đầu hàng thời gian và làm cho tinh thần hăng hái mạnh mẽ chóng suy sụp.
Bạn có thể già đi về thể lý theo thời gian, nhưng bạn luôn có thể giữ cho tâm hồn của mình là suối nguồn tươi trẻ.

“Hit the Road Jack” được sáng tác bởi nhạc sĩ Percy Mayfield và thu âm bởi ca sĩ, nghệ sĩ piano Ray Charles. Bài hát đứng ở vị trí số 1 trong hai tuần liền trên Billboard Hot 100 năm 1961, và xếp hạng thứ 377 trong danh sách 500 bài hát vĩ đại nhất của mọi thời đại của tạp chí Rolling Stone.
Bài hát chạy ra ngoài đường và vào các sân chơi. Trên nhiều sân hockey và bóng bầu dục của Mỹ, vài câu đầu của bài hát “Hit the road, Jack and don’t you come back no more, no more, no more, no more” được chơi mỗi khi một cầu thủ phạm luật và phải đứng ra ngoài. 🙂

Phim Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (Tiềm Long Phục Hổ), do Ang Lee đạo diễn, ra đời năm 2000, là một thành công lớn trên thế giới, với các tài tử Châu Nhuận Phát, Dương Tử Quỳnh, Chương Tử Di, hai cuộc tình buồn, và đặc biệt là âm thanh nền với nhạc của Tan Dun đã thắng Oscar về nhạc gốc.
Trong nhạc nền của Tiềm Long Phục Hổ thì tiếng đàn chính ta nghe từ đầu đến cuối là tiếng cello của Yo-Yo Ma, người nghệ sĩ cello vào hàng đầu thế giới.

Những lời hát đó ở trong bài “Where have all the flowers gone?” nổi tiếng của nhạc sĩ Pete Seeger sáng tác vào năm 1961, một bài hát kêu gọi cho hòa bình, một bài hát của sự hoài niệm những vẻ đẹp trong tâm khảm.
Pete Seeger tìm thấy cảm hứng cho bài hát từ quyển sổ ghi những chép tay của anh từ tác phẩm “Sông Đông êm đềm’ của Mikhail Sholokhov: “Đâu rồi những bông hoa? những cô gái đã nhặt chúng. Đâu rồi những cô gái? Họ lấy chồng hết rồi. Đâu rồi những chàng trai? Họ đều trong quân đội”.
Anh thiếp ngủ, rồi một lời nhạc bỗng hiện ra “long time passing” nói về một nỗi hoài niệm. Anh thêm câu hát “When will they ever learn?”, một câu hỏi thường trực của người trí thức trước thời cuộc, “Khi nào người ta mới tỉnh ngộ ra được?”
Bông hoa, cô gái, chàng trai trong lời bài hát lặp đi lặp lại theo chu kỳ nhắc nhở con người về hòa bình “cô gái nhặt bông hoa, chàng trai tìm cô gái, chàng trai ra trận và nằm lại trong ngôi mộ, phủ bởi những bông hoa”
Bài hát được thu âm đầu tiên bởi nhóm Peter, Paul and Mary; sau đó rất nhiều nhóm nhạc thu âm bài hát này như The Kingston Trio, Joan Baez và nhiều nghệ sĩ khác.
Cách đây khoảng 2 tuần, mình hỏi anh bạn Ken là nên chọn bài hát nào để giới thiệu cho ĐCN nhỉ, ann Ken nói sao không giới thiệu bài này nhỉ, anh nói thêm là ca sĩ nữ của nhóm Peter, Paul and Mary, chị Mary Travers mới mất thứ 7 tuần trước. R.I.P chị Mary.

Mary Travers (1936-2009) RIP -Peter, Paul & Mary – Where Have All The Flowers Gone?
Lần trước chúng ta đã nghe nhạc nền của phim Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (Tiềm Long Phục Hổ), do nhạc sĩ Tan Dun viết, với Yo-Yo Ma trình tấu cello như là nhạc cụ chính. Hôm nay chúng ta hãy nghe nhạc nền cũng của Tan Dun cho phim Anh Hùng, một cuốn phim võ hiệp cũng rất thành công mở Mỹ với Lý Liên Kiêt thủ vai chính.
Trong phim có tất cả 16 soundtracks, và các mỗi soundtrack có một sắc thái đặc biệt, không giống nhau nhiều quá như soundtracks của Tiềm Long Phục Hổ.
Chúng ta có đủ 16 soundtracks dưới đây. Các bản nhạc này đều do Tan Dun viết và do ba nhạc sĩ trình diễn: Itzhak Perlman, Kodo và Tan Dun.
“How Great Thou Art” đứng thứ hai trong những bản thánh ca được yêu thích nhất của mọi thời đại, sau bản “Amazing Grace”.
Lời nhạc “How great thou art” dựa trên bài thơ tiếng Thụy Điển do Carl Gustav Boberg viết vào năm 1885.
Hôm đó, Carl Boberg và vài người bạn đang trở về nhà ở Monsteras từ Kronoback, nơi ông và các bạn mới dự lễ nhà thờ. Thiên nhiên đang đẹp đỉnh điểm buổi chiều hôm đó. Đột nhiên, một trận sấm rền vang và ánh chớp xẹt ngang tầng trời. Cơn gió mạnh quét qua những cánh đồng và thổi tung lên một trận bão những hạt lúa. Một trận mưa rào trong trẻo, và chỉ phút chốc sau cơn bão, cầu vồng xuất hiện.
Khi Boberg về tới nhà, ông mở cửa sổ và thấy vịnh Monsteras như một tấm gương trước mặt… âm thanh tiếng chuông nhà thờ vào buổi tối yên lặng….
Đó là những cảm hứng làm nên bài thơ nguyên thủy của Boberg.
Sau đó, bài thơ được phối hợp với một giai điệu dân ca cổ Thụy Điển thành bài hát và được trình diễn đầu tiên vào năm 1888.
Bản thánh ca sau đó được dịch sang tiếng Đức (1907), tiếng Nga (1912), tiếng Anh (1925), tiếng Tây Ban Nha, Romani, Việt Nam và nhiều ngôn ngữ khác.
Toàn bộ bài hát là sự ngỡ ngàng, khiêm tốn và yêu kính Thượng Đế sâu thẳm trong chúa Giê Su.

Hôm nay mình giới thiệu với các bạn một bài hát rất dễ thương Good Night của nhóm The Beatles. Bài hát này ban đầu do John Lennon viết làm bài ru cho cậu con trai Julian khi bé 5 tuổi và sau đó được hòa âm và xuất hiện trong album The Beatles phát hành năm 1968, do Ringo Starr thể hiện.

Anh David trở về nhà một buổi chiều vào thời suy thoái. Mất việc, kinh tế ẩm iu. Bao nhiêu thứ phải lo. Sáng hôm sau anh có vẻ như không mỉm được cười.

Nhưng, con đường đầy ánh sáng vẫn ở phía trước. Anh David và chị Mary sẽ bước trên con đường đầy nắng ấy chứ? Bước tiếp chứ? Sẽ làm gì tiếp đây?
Anh David và chị Mary sẽ bước tiếp và vui được trở lại chứ? Anh chị sẽ chấp nhận được thực tế – trút đi được một gánh nặng, và bắt đầu nhìn vào con đường phía trước chứ?
Anh chị bước tiếp, nhìn về con đường phía xa xa và bắt đầu nghĩ là nên làm gì tiếp. Anh chị thấy vui hơn, và muốn làm gì đó. Con đường cũng vui lên vì có anh chị cùng bước. 🙂
Bài hát “Don’t stop’ của nhóm Fleetwood Mac dưới đây, viết bởi thành viên Christine McVie hát về buổi sáng ngày hôm sau đó. Bài hát nằm trong album nổi tiếng Rumours của nhóm vào năm 1977 và chỉ riêng bài hát, xếp thứ hạng 3 trong Billboard singles charts.
“Don’t stop” hát về cảm xúc của chị Christine McVie sau khi chia tay với chồng và cũng là tay guitar bass của nhóm, anh John McVie sau 8 năm chung sống. Thật khó, nhưng dễ chịu hơn khi bắt đầu có ý nghĩ ‘ngày hôm qua qua rồi’.
Đầu những năm 1992, kinh tế Mỹ suy thoái. Ứng cử viên Bill Clinton đã dùng bài hát ‘Don’t stop’ làm bài hát chủ để của cuộc vận động tranh cử tổng thống Mỹ.
Bill Clinton, với sự lạc quan tỏa nắng, đã khơi nguồn cảm hứng và giúp phục hồi nền kinh tế Mỹ những năm 1990s.
