Về quê

Dear brothers and sisters,

I miss my hometown, both Thái Bình province – where my dad and mom were born, and Đà Nẵng city – where I was born. I miss Thái Bình with images in the song Về quê. I miss ĐN, especially Cù Lao Chàm with the blue sea, white sand and golden sunshine. I really really miss Cù Lao Chàm, although staying at Cù Lao Chàm only 1 day 1 night, I miss ĐN very much.

Oh, my sea, my sand, my sunshine… I miss you.

Sharing with you all.

Enjoy the song and have a nice day. Continue reading Về quê

How to close economic gap between city people and country people?

Dear brothers and sisters,

Generally, there is a huge economic gap between city people and country people. How to close that gap?

To close that gap, we should help the poor become richer.

For country people to become rich, we should bring economic development  into rural areas – every district of every province. Many things to do, but I think we should focus on 2 things: agricultural economics and information technology. We should focus on agricultural economics because the strength of rural areas is agriculture. And IT, we should also focus on it because we can do IT work wherever we sit.

Learning to live together

Dear brothers and sisters,

When I hear the news that Huế khôi phục dạy môn nữ công gia chánh trong trường học (my translation: woman’s skills and family management), I’m so happy. Schools should teach subjects like this – subjects about how to live together.

Previously, a friend of mine and I have talked about the topic: “We should open a school that teach girls act like a lady and teaching boys act like a gentleman. Surely many parents will want to bring their children to our school, because they know learning to live together is an important skill for their children’s future.” Continue reading Learning to live together

Hungarian Dance No. 5

Dear brothers and sisters,

A funny tune, enjoy.

This is Hungarian Dance No.5 by Johannes Brahms. Brahms wrote the Hungarian Dances, a set of 21 lively dance tunes based mostly on Hungarian themes, in 1879. They are among Brahms’s most popular works and were the most profitable for him. Each dance has been arranged for a wide variety of instruments and ensembles.

What should we do to have a better business environment?

Dear brothers and sisters,

Looks like, in Vietnam, all kinds of sellers do all kinds of lying to customers: Jacking up the price sometimes up to 200% or 300% (nói thách); clean vegetable is indeed not clean; fake merchandise; lying about the origin of the products, lying about the quality of the products, deceptive advertising… What should we do to have a better business environment, in which people are more honest?

I think we should do 4 things. Continue reading What should we do to have a better business environment?

P. I. Tchaikovsky – Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35 – Itzhak Perlman

Dear brothers and sisters,

Why do I listen to classical music?

Because I want to close the heart of the world.

This is the Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35, the only concerto for violin composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in 1878, and one of the best-known violin concertos.

Itzhak Perlman (born 31 August 1945) is an Israeli-American violinist, conductor, and music teacher. Over the course of his career Perlman has performed worldwide, and throughout the United States, in venues that have included a State Dinner at the White House honoring Queen Elizabeth II, and at the Presidential Inauguration of President Obama.

He has conducted the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Westchester Philharmonic. In 2015, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He has been awarded 16 Grammy Awards, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and four Emmy Awards.

Enjoy.

Have a nice day.

Heart seed with wings

Dear brothers and sisters,

I want to tell you a little about dipterocarpus seeds (hạt dầu).

Dipterocarpus is the third-largest and most diverse genus among the family Dipterocarpaceae. The family name, from the type genus Dipterocarpus, is derived from Greek (di = two, pteron = wing and karpos = fruit) and refers to the two-winged fruit.

Dipterocarpus has about 70 species, occurring in Southeast Asia. The species are well known for timber, but less acknowledged for use in traditional herbal medicine. Continue reading Heart seed with wings

Mariage d’amour – Marriage of Love

Dear brothers and sisters,

Mariage d’amour (Marriage of Love) is a piece of French solo piano music, composed by Paul de Senneville in 1979, and first performed by the pianist Richard Clayderman from his album Lettre À Ma Mère in 1979. The beautiful melody.

Listening to good music and working, we’ll have a good day.

What should Vietnam do to ensure China’s proper behavior in the East Sea?

Dear brothers and sisters,

The world obviously is fed up with China’s belligerence and lawlessness in the oceans (The East Sea, Yellow sea, East China sea and maybe a bunch of other seas including Artic Ocean). So the world powers (USA, Australia, Japan, India, French, Britain, Germany… and maybe more to come) are getting together to form an alliance to deal with China.

Vietnam is the country affected most by China’s behavior, but VN has been very quiet about it. This is probably because Vietnam has the policy of “being friends of all nations” and “whatever happens, we still need to live in peace with our neighbor China.”

What else do you think Vietnam should do now, to ensure China’s proper behavior in the East Sea? Continue reading What should Vietnam do to ensure China’s proper behavior in the East Sea?

Eating with Buddha

Saigon corner

Dear brothers and sisters,

This is our eating table. On the table, these are a small Buddha head statue, an incense burner in the image of praying hands, and two dipterocarpus seeds (hạt dầu) and one momordica cochinchinensis seed (hạt quả gấc).

Momordia cochinchinesnsis seed: my dad usually cooks xôi gấc on Tet holiday. This seed is from xôi gấc my dad cooked. The seed reminds me of my dad and family. Continue reading Eating with Buddha
