Viet Nam News BÀ RỊA-VŨNG TÀU — At about 5pm on the last day of January, 24-year-old Nguyễn Đức Hiển from An Giang Province jumped off a fishing vessel as it was getting ashore near Cát Lở Port in Vũng Tàu City.After being rescued by another fishing boat and handed over to the border guards of Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province, Hiển revealed that he was tricked by a xe ôm driver in HCM City and sold to the leader of a labour trafficking ring for VNĐ3.5 million (US$154).

Mặc dù vậy, sản xuất chỉ tạo ra khoảng 10-15% việc làm ở các nước đang phát triển (và thậm chí ít hơn ở Hoa Kỳ và một vài nước phát triển nhất thế giới), và sản xuất cũng không còn đóng vai trò quan trọng trong việc tạo ra giá trị thặng dư và việc làm (Dadush, 2015). Nói cách khác, sản xuất là ngành nhỏ và tương đối chậm phát triển, trong khi cạnh tranh quốc tế rất khốc liệt.

A recent World Bank report claiming that up to 40 percent of pork in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City is potentially contaminated with the salmonella bacteria has raised concern and doubt as to whether the ratio is too high compared with Vietnam’s own statistics.

The World Bank data may not truly reflect the meat safety situation in those cities, according to local insiders.

YALA, Thailand: Insurgents fired hundreds of shots into a police booth in restive Muslim-majority southern Thailand on Monday, wounding 12 officers in what police called the biggest such attack in years.

A decades-old separatist insurgency in the provinces of Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat has claimed more than 6,500 lives since it escalated in 2004, according to independent monitoring group Deep South Watch.

Nhiệt điện than có giá thành rẻ, phù hợp với hoàn cảnh thực tế nền kinh tế, song có rủi ro môi trường.

Gần đây liên tục các dự án nhiệt điện than với quy mô hàng chục tỷ USD được đề xuất, chấp thuận đầu tư. Mới đây, Bộ Công Thương đã lấy ý kiến về vị trí cụ thể của trung tâm nhiệt điện Long An. Dự kiến trung tâm này sẽ được xây dựng và vận hành từ năm 2024 để giúp giải quyết việc thiếu điện của miền Nam. Vốn đầu tư cho dự án lên tới 5 tỷ USD.

Sau 5 năm kiên trì đeo bám, chạy ngược chạy xuôi theo đuổi vụ kiện doanh nghiệp FDI nợ lương công nhân rồi “biến mất”, vừa qua, LĐLĐ huyện Củ Chi (TPHCM) đã thắng kiện, đòi lại được hơn 4 tỉ đồng tiền lương cho 677 anh chị em. Trong buổi phát lương, những nụ cười, và nhiều nước mắt của CN đã rơi, vì thông cảm, chia sẻ với hoàn cảnh của nhau. Có thể coi đây là kỳ phát lương “không tiền khoáng hậu”, một sự kiện đặc biệt trong lịch sử hoạt động của tổ chức công đoàn.

DEHRADUN, INDIA – An Indian court has recognized Himalayan glaciers, lakes and forests as “legal persons” in an effort to curb environmental destruction, weeks after it granted similar status to the country’s two most sacred rivers.

In a decision that aims to widen environmental protections in the mountainous region, the court granted the legal standing to the glaciers Gangotri and Yamunotri,m which feed India’s venerated Ganges and Yamuna rivers, which won the status in a landmark judgment in March.

  • Both Generic and Innovator medicines are falsified including very expensive products for cancer to very inexpensive products for treatment of pain.
  • They can be found in illegal street markets, via unregulated websites through to pharmacies, clinics and hospitals.

In 2012, President Barack Obama signed a presidential proclamation declaring March 29, 2012 Vietnam Veterans Day, and now each year on March 29 Vietnam vets are honored.

March 29 is also the day in 1973 that the final troops returned to the U.S. from Vietnam, marking the end of U.S. involvement in the war.

Walls along several streets of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City have been given a touch-up with graffiti and mural paintings featuring rhinos, as part of a campaign to protect the endangered animal.

The campaign, named Rhinos Street Art Painting Project, is run by the Center of Hands-on Actions and Networking for Growth and Environment (CHANGE) and is backed by the local Youth Union and WildAct Vietnam, a non-government conservation charity.
