What are you improving ?

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I know that everyone of us is working to improve ourself. The question is “improving what?”

Most of us try to improve doctoring skills, lawyering skills, engineering skills, selling skills, teaching skills… but the most important skill, the mother of al other skills, few people pay serious attention to. That is the skill to keep a pure heart.

Keeping a pure heart is the mother of all other skills, because without a pure heart, you are bad doctor, bad lawyer, bad engineer, bad salesperson, bad teacher… This point is self-evident. It’s an axiom. Does anyone need me to prove its Truth?

As you try to improve your technical skills every day of your professional life, you need to improve your pure heart, the mother of all other skills, every day of your life. When you water a plant, you water its root, not only the leaves.

Let me repeat this. You need to improve your heart, to purify it, every day of your life.

If you don’t do that, your heart will continue to be filled with typical life garbage you have learned constantly throughout your life.

If you purify your heart every day, your heart is pure. If you don’t purify your heart every day, it will collect garbage. Just like a water container, if you don’t clean it often, it aumomatically has all kinds of moss, alga and lichen.

If you don’t want to purify your heart, that is OK with me. But it will not be OK with you, in your old age or on the death bed. You will ask: “What the hell I have been doing all the years? How have I spent my life?” And you will shake you head slightly before you breathe out the last breath.

Trust me. This is not Hollywood movie.

Purify your heart, my dears.

With compassion,

Hoành
