HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s economic growth is projected to moderate to 6.6 per cent in 2019, driven by credit tightening, slower private consumption and weaker external demand, according to the World Bank (WB).

Under the Managing Headwinds report on East Asia and Pacific update released on Wednesday, WB said Việt Nam’s economy continues to show fundamental strength, supported by robust domestic demand and export-oriented manufacturing.

Foxconn tore up a small town to build a big factory, then retreated

TĐH: Terry Gou, Chairman of Taiwanese firm Foxconn, with lots of investments in mainland China, has just announced his running for the presidency of Taiwan, against incumbent president Tsai Ing-wen. So now, stories about Foxconn and Tery Gou begin to take the front pages.

This story is somewhat personal to me. The little village Mount Pleasant in this story is right outside the border of City of Racine, where I worked as an accountant in Racine City Hall in my previous life before going to law school to become a lawyer. Last year, in our summer road trip to the US west coast, my wife and I stopped by Racine to take a look and took some pictures and was surprised by so much infrastructure construction going on. Now I understand the reason – the investment promise (still to be fulfilled) by Foxconn.

Prayer 634

The prayer series

Jesus,

Although I don’t listen and speak English well now,
although I have never lived abroad,
I believe I can understand the heart of Westerner
at least about 70%.

Why?

Because I know the Holy Bible, about 70%.

The Holy Bible is the heart of Westerner
as Buddhism is the heart of Easterner.
So knowing the Holy Bible is to understand the heart of Westerner.

Because I know the Holy Bible,
when I read their writings,
from musical writings to economic writings,
I can understand their feeling and thinking,
at least about 70%.

Most of our people like Buddhism.
They don’t care about the Holy Bible.
So although they’re good at English
and although they live abroad,
It would be hard for them to understand the heart of Westerner.

If we want to befriend the Westerners,
we should understand their heart and culture.

Our people should learn the Holy Bible.

Our people should learn about you.

Amen.

Vietnam’s tourism going the wrong way: Tourists prefer green travel, not skyscrapers

vietnamnet 26/04/2019    09:58 GMT+7

More and more international-standard resorts and hotels have arisen in Vietnam, but these facilities are not what foreign travelers want. They visit Vietnam to ‘return to nature’.

Returning to Canada after a trip to Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam in 2005, David Hutt, an Australian businessman, decided to come back to the beautiful island with his family members to enjoy the white sand and blue sea, the palm trees covering part of the beach, and red-earth trails.

Vietnam, listed among the easy-to-conquer markets for Huawei, has also become tougher amid calls for boycott of Huawei all over the world.

The Real Reason Why Mary Magdalene Is Such a Controversial Figure

As China stops solid waste imports, Vietnam fears it could become new dumping ground

vietnamnet

China has vowed to stop importing solid waste by 2020, while Vietnam is still fumbling for solutions to control scrap imports.

Chinese agencies on March 28 announced the country’s plan to cut solid waste imports to zero percent by 2020 with an aim of encouraging plants to treat the high amount of domestic waste.
