A young man from central Vietnam who lost three of his limbs and vision to unexploded ordnance left from the U.S. war in Vietnam when he was ten years old is now actively working to protect others from the same fate.
Ho Van Lai, 27, from Cua Viet Town in Quang Tri Province, has come a long way since sustaining multiple serious injuries because of unexploded ordnance (UXO) 17 years ago.

The pig farm developed by Masan Nutri – Farm Company, a Masan Group subsidiary, is being built in the north-central Vietnamese province of Nghe An.
The construction of a VND1 trillion (US$44.2 million) pig farm being built by Vietnamese food producer Masan Group has been suspended in the north-central province of Nghe An due to a lack of legitimate paperwork.
Following a directive from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Nghe An People’s Committee on Wednesday ordered that construction on the project be ceased.

TTCT_ Sau nhiều năm chờ đợi, thị trường quang điện vừa đón nhận một tin quan trọng, Thủ tướng ban hành quyết định số 11/2017/QĐ-TTg về cơ chế khuyến khích phát triển các dự án điện mặt trời tại Việt Nam.
Theo đó Tập đoàn Điện lực Việt Nam (EVN) sẽ có trách nhiệm mua toàn bộ sản lượng điện từ các dự án nối lưới với giá 9,35 cent/kWh. Quyết định này đang tạo ra một cơn địa chấn trong giới đầu tư trong và ngoài nước quan tâm đến thị trường điện Việt Nam.
Thị trường điện Việt Nam đang trong giai đoạn tái cơ cấu. Công ty tư nhân và doanh nghiệp nước ngoài không chỉ có thể tham gia sản xuất điện (như đầu tư làm một trang trại điện mặt trời) mà trong tương lai còn có thể phân phối điện.

Điều đáng nói là khu rừng phòng hộ ven biển này bị phá trắng nhưng đến nay vẫn chưa trình hồ sơ lên Thủ tướng để xin chuyển mục đích sử dụng đất.

THỪA THIÊN – HUẾ — The former Imperial Palace in Huế will be lit up every night thanks to a light system installed by the Huế Monuments Conservation Centre, the local government body that manages the monuments.
According to centre director Phan Thanh Hải, the lighting of the monument is part of a programme to welcome visitors to the former palace in the evening. Since it first opened to tourists in the 1990s, the UNESCO-recognised site has received visitors only in the daytime. During the night, the palace has remained closed.

VietNamNet Bridge – The average price for imported pork is now $1.2 per kilo, or VND27,000, while the domestic pork price has dropped dramatically to a 30-year low.
According to GDC, by mid-March, Vietnam had imported 7,800 tons of pork of different kinds, worth $9.4 million. The figure represented a 16 percent increase in quantity and 21 percent in value compared with the same period last year.
As such, one kilo of imports is priced at $1.2. Post-slaughter by-products were imported at $0.88 per kilo (5,400 tons were imported, worth $4.8 million), while fresh pork was VND42,500 per kilo.
VietNamNet Bridge – Shrimp waste – heads and shells – are being used to produce animal feed and biological derivatives, resulting in high profits and a reduction of air pollution at processing plants.
Six years ago in Ca Mau province, the ‘metropolis’ of the aquaculture and seafood processing industry, shrimp shells discharged from processing were in piles as high as a mountain.
Every day, Minh Phu Seafood JSC threw away 50-100 tons of shrimp heads and shells. The mountain of shrimp waste produced a bad odor after being exposed to the sun and rain.

Residents in the southern Vietnamese province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau have blocked a local road as a last resort in their battle against the damage and pollution caused by trucks traveling to and from a nearby port.
The barricade first went up around 8:30 am on Wednesday, when residents living along the road leading to the Duc Hanh Inland Port in Tan Phuoc Commune, Tan Thanh District decided they had finally had enough.
