Ms. Nết – areca trees

Dear brothers and sisters,

Around my home in District 1, there were many beautiful streets. I loved every street corner and every tree there, including a small street near my home. The road was short, 20m long. One end of the street had 3 areca trees. Every time I went on the street, I always felt romantic and remembered the song:

“…Areca flowers fall white in my yard
The fragrance of areca flower lingers around the betel garden…”

The house of Ms. Nết (means “nết na”) was opposite the trees. She was 70 years old. She watered the areca trees and swept areca flowers and leaves of a nearby điệp vàng tree every day. They weren’t her trees. They belonged to the women’s health clinic. However, she said: “If I don’t sweep them, when it rains, people can easily slip on them and fall.”

I appreciated her. Every time I met her, she smiled to me.

I loved the areca trees so much that I collected their nuts to plant. Now I have 6 areca trees growing in 6 separate pots in my balcony.

I can’t let the trees grow as big as they should. I can just let them become bonsai trees. However, they are still very pretty.

Share with you.

Have a nice day.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful story, chị Hương. How careful and considerate Ms. Nết was.

I also love areca trees, especially areca flowers. This kind of flower has an elegant white colour with a pleasant and sweet fragrance. Sometimes, if I can buy areca flowers in the market, I often offer them to our ancestral altar.

    Sharing with you.

    Have a lovely day.
