Các ngoại trưởng Asean nhóm họp hồi tháng trước tại Hà Nội.
Tờ South China Morning Post hôm 06/08 đăng tải bài viết của ký giả Greg Torode của tờ này, bình luận về chuyển hướng trong quan hệ giữa Asean và Trung Quốc xung quanh vấn đề Biển Đông.
Bài viết với tựa đề “ASEAN đột ngột quyết tâm chống Bắc Kinh” mở đầu bằng bình luận rằng Asean ” đột nhiên có động thái gây phức tạp cho chính sách ở khu vực này của Trung Quốc trong những tháng tới”.
Một nhóm quan chức quốc phòng Việt Nam thăm hàng không mẫu hạm USS George Washington của Hoa Kỳ, hiện đang đậu ở ngoài khơi Đà Nẵng.

Các hoạt động trao đổi dồn dập gần đây cho thấy một sự ấm lên nhanh chóng trong quan hệ quân sự giữa hai nước cựu thù.

Nhưng cách bàn luận này hơi lạc vấn đề.
Hoa Kỳ và thế giới đang có vấn đề lớn với Iran và các hoạt động khủng bố quốc tế từ các nhóm Hồi giáo cực đoan. Lo ngại về vũ khí hạt nhân trong các quốc gia Hồi giáo là việc tư nhiên, vì nhu cần an ninh.

WASHINGTON – More than 30 years after his death, an Air Force general has been exonerated of charges that he violated presidential restrictions on aerial bombing during the Vietnam War and that he ordered the falsification of records to conceal the missions.
John D. Lavelle was forced to retire in April 1972 at the rank of major general — two stars below the rank he held as commander of air operations in Vietnam — after being relieved of duty for ordering unauthorized airstrikes against North Vietnamese military targets.

A row has broken out between Wikipedia and the FBI over the use of its seal.
In a letter sent to Wikipedia’s San Francisco office, the FBI said that “unauthorised reproduction of the FBI Seal was prohibited by US law”.
“Whoever possesses any insignia…or any colourable imitation thereof..shall be fined…or imprisoned… or both,” the FBI wrote.
A large airborne military exercise is underway in China’s central and eastern provinces and seas.
Fighter jets, spy planes and helicopters, along with 12,000 soldiers, are taking part in the drill.
It is one of several announced in official media in recent weeks.
The exercise follows verbal sparring between the US and China over conflicting territorial claims by China and many South East Asian nations in the South China Sea.

North Korea says it will use its “nuclear deterrent” in response to joint US-South Korean military exercises this weekend.
Pyongyang was ready to launch a “retaliatory sacred war” at any time, the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said.
Washington and Seoul say the war games are to deter North Korean aggression.
The IPCC Scholarship Programme has been established with the funds received on the occasion of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize award to the IPCC. The first funding partner of the Programme is Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtland, Former Norwegian Prime Minister and UN Special Envoy on Climate Change.
