When President-elect Donald Trump mused about buying Greenland from Denmark during his first administration, the Danish prime minister called the idea “absurd” and rebuffed him outright.
Now, Danish officials are being warned by Trump allies and advisers that he is serious, multiple Danish officials told CNN. And they’re carefully weighing how to respond without sparking a major rupture with a close ally and fellow NATO member.
“The ecosystem supporting this idea is totally different now” than it was in 2019, when Trump first proposed it, said one senior Danish official. “This seems much more serious,” said another senior Danish official.

President-elect Donald Trump is not letting up on his suggestions that the US should retake the Panama Canal, an idea that has been rejected by the government of Panama, which has controlled the passage for decades.
In social media posts and remarks to supporters, Trump has accused Panama of charging the US “exorbitant rates” to use the canal and hinted at growing Chinese influence over the crucial waterway. And at an hour-long news conference at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday, he said the nearly half-century-old decision by the US to hand over control of the canal was a “terrible thing to do.”

Nhắc lại, đây là phong trào thế tục sanh ra tại Âu châu, nơi người theo đạo và văn hóa Do Thái từng bị 1.000 năm phân biệt, chèn ép, bài xích, đưa đến xua đuổi, trục xuất và tiêu diệt.
Giải pháp của Zion chủ nghĩa không phải là tranh đấu và đòi quyền bình đẳng sinh sống tại các nước Âu Tây, nơi họ có bấy nhiêu thế kỷ hiện diện, mà là lập một quốc gia riêng biệt.
Như vậy, Israel ra đời năm 1948 là vì người Do Thái bị Âu châu bạc đãi và trù dập. Hoàn cảnh lịch sử với ngày tàn của đế quốc Ottoman, thất trận của đế quốc Đức, rồi Đức quốc xã, khiến họ trở thành đồng minh đắc lực của Tây phương trong khu vực.
Như ngoại trưởng Mỹ Alexander Haig nói 35 năm trước: “Israel là tàu sân bay lớn nhất thế giới của Mỹ mà không thể bị đánh chìm, (lại) không cần đến một người lính Mỹ và ở tại vị trí then chốt cho an ninh Mỹ”.

TTCT – Chủ nhật 8-12, Thông tấn xã Tass (Nga) cho biết chuyến bay Syrian Air chở gia đình Tổng thống Syria Bashar al Assad đã đến Matxcơva và ông được Nga cho tị nạn vì lý do nhân đạo.

Vậy là sau 54 năm và hai đời, họ Assad chấm dứt trị vì Syria, 13 năm sau khi đất nước này rơi vào nội chiến và hỗn loạn.
Trước hết, sự sụp đổ của gia tộc Assad cũng là sự sụp đổ của phái Hồi Shia Alawi, vốn chiếm 15% dân số Syria, với 2-3 triệu người ở trong nước, khoảng 1 triệu người đang tị nạn ở Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ (và 100.000-200.000 người nữa mang quốc tịch Lebanon).

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. severely lags behind China in shipbuilding capacity, lawmakers and experts have warned, as the Biden administration tries to build up the country’s ability to develop and produce weapons and other defense supplies to fend off war.
Speaking at a congressional hearing Thursday, Rep. John Moolenaar, the Republican chair of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, said the country lacks the capacity to “deter and win a fight” with China and called for action.
“Bold policy changes and significant resources are now needed to restore deterrence and prevent a fight” with China, Moolenaar said.
