Supermarket, restaurant chains and residential areas in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are working with An Phat Holdings to minimize the use of plastic bags.
As the world becomes increasingly aware of the plastic crisis, more and more people are saying no to plastic straws. To combat the issue, people all over the world have come up with new, more sustainable materials to make straws from. Most recently, a young Vietnamese entrepreneur released a straw made of wild grass, which has been taking off on social media.

SINGAPORE – Singapore has seized 12.9 tonnes of pangolin scales found in a shipping container destined for Vietnam, the biggest seizure of its kind globally in five years, authorities said on Thursday.
The scales of pangolin, the world’s most poached animal, were found on Wednesday packed in 230 bags in the container along with 177 kg (390 lb) of elephant ivory.

Several Vietnamese supermarkets have started using banana leaves to wrap vegetables in an effort to reduce plastic waste.
Shoppers at Lotte Mart in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 7 were recently surprised to see scallions, okra and other vegetables produce wrapped in banana leaves.
A representative of the supermarket chain said that the company is experimenting with using leaves to wrap veggies in one outlet, and plans to expand this later to the entire chain in the country.

HÀ NỘI — More than VNĐ28.5 trillion (US$1.23 billion) has been earmarked for a project to protect, restore and sustainably develop forests in the Central Highlands until 2030.
The project, which was approved by Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc last week, aims to cut forest losses and restore the coverage rate to 49.2 per cent, or 2.72 million hectares.

GLAND, Thuỵ Sỹ (ngày 5 tháng Ba năm 2019) – Cuộc khủng hoảng ô nhiễm nhựa toàn cầu sẽ ngày càng xấu đi trừ phi tất cả các bên liên quan trong chuỗi giá trị nhựa chịu trách nhiệm về những mất mát gây ra cho thiên nhiên và con người. Đó là lời cảnh báo trong một báo cáo mới công bố ngày hôm nay của WWF: Giải quyết ô nhiễm nhựa thông qua trách nhiệm. Báo cáo chỉ ra rằng hiện nay trách nhiệm giảm ô nhiễm nhựa chủ yếu đặt vào người tiêu dùng và cơ quan quản lý rác thải, những nỗ lực này sẽ không hiệu quả trừ phi toàn bộ chuỗi giá trị nhựa cùng bắt tay hành động.

Các nhà nghiên cứu thuộc Đại học Utrecht ở Hà Lan vừa cảnh báo khu vực đóng góp 50% sản lượng lúa, 65% sản lượng nuôi trồng thủy sản và 70% các loại trái cây của Việt Nam, đang phải đối mặt với nguy cơ bị chìm gần như hoàn toàn vào năm 2100.

Xã Đôn Nhân (huyện Sông Lô, tỉnh Vĩnh Phúc) có khoảng 4,8 km đất chạy dọc theo bờ sông lô, đất đai màu mỡ, cây cối xanh tốt quanh năm. Nhưng những năm trở lại đây, “cát tặc” tung hoành khiến đất đai của người dân bị sạt lở hàng nghìn m2.

After a 4-day site visit and meetings with government agencies in charge of site management, the mission found that while the geological values of the site are currently not threatened, with continued growth in visitor numbers and ineffective management of visitors and waste, the impacts on the site’s aesthetic values will cause a significant threat to its OUV.
