Cách đây 20 năm chúng ta nghe còn nghe nhạc từ các đĩa nhựa quay vòng với một đầu kim, gọi là máy phonograph. Các đĩa nhựa đó ngày xưa gọi là record.
Jukebox là một máy hát, chạy các đĩa nhựa đó, nhưng với hai đặc tính: (1) Jukebox chứa trong đó rất nhiều đĩa, để người nghe lựa chọn, và (2) Jukebox khởi động bằng đồng tiền xu; thường đặt tại nhà hàng, bar, và các nơi công cộng để thu tiền người nghe. Tóm lại, jukebox là một phonograph khởi động bằng tiền xu. Và các bản nhạc trong jukebox thường là các bản được nhiều người ưa chuộng. Jukebox
Ngày nay Jukeboxes cũng còn khá nhiều trong các nhà hàng, nhưng mục đich chính là để tạo không khí hoài cổ cho nhà hàng. Khách hàng vẫn có thể bỏ vào 25 hay 50 xu để mua một bản nhạc, dĩ nhiên là cho cả nhà hàng cùng nghe.
Vì ý niệm hoài cổ như vậy cho nên Jukebox thường chỉ có các bản nhạc cũ, và it ai đặt nhạc đương thời vào đó.
Ngày nay nhiều jukebox chạy bằng CDs hay computer tân thời, nhưng hình thức bên ngoài nhìn chẳng khác gì jukebox của thời xưa.

Phân nhiều nhạc thời 70s-60s được gọi là nhạc “Thời kỳ Việt Nam” có nghĩa là khoảng 1963-1975 trong thời gian quân Mỹ tham chiến tại Việt Nam, và cũng là thời đỉnh cao của âm nhạc 60s và 70s. Trong 2 Jukeboxes này có nhiều bài chúng ta đã nghe qua trên ĐCN, phần nhiều do chị Huệ giới thiệu.

Đây là các bản nhạc đã thành kinh điển của thời 50s. Các bản này thì chúng ta ít biết hơn, nhưng cũng có vài nghệ sĩ quen thuộc như Elvis Presley, Billy Holiday, v.v…

Rất vui được gặp lại các bạn trong chuyên mục “Nhạc Xanh” sau một thời gian dài mình “biệt tăm, biệt tích” vì công việc và sức khỏe. Dù không thể post bài thường xuyên như trước đây, mình vẫn thường xuyên theo dõi từng bài viết của CACC và rất thán phục các admins của trang ĐCN như anh Hoành, chị Huệ, chị Kim Yến…Cảm ơn CACC đã có những bài viết tích cực, những bài nhạc vui tươi, giúp ĐCN ngày càng xanh tươi và tràn đầy sức sống.
Trong chuyên mục “Nhạc Xanh” ngày hôm nay, để thay đổi không khí, mình xin được giới thiệu với các bạn tác phẩm kèn lệnh nổi tiếng của Aaron Copland, có tên gọi “Fanfare for the Common Man”.
Aaron Copland (14/11/1900 – 2/12/1990) là một nhà soạn nổi tiếng (cho các tác phẩm cổ điển hiện đại, ballet, nhạc phim…), và cũng là nghệ sĩ piano lừng danh của Mỹ. Ông được suy tôn như “đỉnh cao của các nhà soạn nhạc Mỹ”. Các tác phẩm của ông là sự kết hợp hài hòa giữa âm nhạc hiện đại và âm nhạc dân gian Mỹ.
Một trong những tác phẩm nhạc cổ điển hiện đại nổi tiếng của ông trong thế ký 20 là “Fanfare for the Common Man”. Ông viêt tác phẩm này cho dàn nhạc giao hưởng Cincinnati (dưới sự chỉ huy của nhạc trưởng Eugene Goossens) vào năm 1942. Trong khoảng thời gian đen tối của chiến tranh thế giới thứ 2, có khoảng 18 tác phẩm kèn lệnh của các nhà soạn nhạc Mỹ, được sáng tác để diễn tả tinh thần yêu nước và thống nhất đất nước. Tuy nhiên, chỉ có tác phẩm “Fanfare the Common Man” của Aaron Copland được biểu diễn nhiều nhất và phổ biến nhất trong khi các tác phẩm còn lại đều trở nên mờ nhạt.
Nhạc phẩm này tuy ngắn (chưa đầy 4 phút, viết cho kèn và trống) nhưng khá ấn tượng với phần mở đầu rất nghiêm trang. Tiếp nối những nhip trống mạnh mẽ là tiếng kèn trumpet, bên cạnh sự pha trộn hai hòa của tiếng kèn trombone, kèn tuba và kèn co.

Mình mới làm xong file PPS này với một số các đám mây hình thể màu sắc đẹp đẻ lạ thường, hiện ra tại những vùng khác nhau trên thế giới.
Nhân đây cũng là dịp để giới thiệu thêm về Deuter, nhạc sĩ New Age, tác giả của bản Daemmershen dùng làm nhạc nền cho file này.
Deuter sinh năm 1945 tại Falkenhagen, Đức. Tự học guitar, sáo và harmonica, và “bất cứ nhạc cụ nào mà anh có dịp rớ vào”.
Trong thập niên 1970s-1980s, Deuter chu du sang Ấn Độ, theo thầy học các phép tu của Ấn Giáo và trở thành một Sannyasi, tu sĩ trong dòng Sannyasa, một dòng tu hàng cao cấp nhất, dành cho nhũng người tuyên thệ bỏ tất cả các ham muốn thế tục. Tu sinh thường là những người đã trên 50 tuổi, hoặc trẻ tuổi hơn nhưng đã là tu sĩ và nay muốn dùng toàn cuộc đời còn lại cho đời sống tâm linh.
Trong thời gian ở Ấn Độ, Deuter học thêm được một số nhạc cụ Ấn, và sáng tác một số nhạc để trợ giúp thiền định, thâu vào băng cassette.
Trong thập niên 1990s Deuter sang Mỹ, đinh cư tại New Mexico và phát hành một số nhạc thiền, bắt đầu được ưa chuộng trong giới New Age của Mỹ. Deuter bắt đầu thành công nhiều sau khi cùng hợp tác với newearthrecords.com, môt công ty phát hành băng nhạc nhỏ do các bạn nhà sư Ấn giáo mở ở Mỹ. Nhạc Deuter được ưa thích như là nhạc để tâm trí tĩnh lặng thoải mái. Các Spas rât thích nhạc Deuter.
Deuter ngày nay chơi được rất nhiều nhạc cụ, kể cả trống, Koto, Sitar, Shakuhachi… và đã phát hành hơn 50 CDs nhạc mediation.

Tổ Chức Giáo Dục, Khoa Học và Văn Hóa của Liên Hợp Quốc (UNESCO) có một danh sách dài của các cảnh quan thiên nhiên và công trình kiến trúc nhân tạo có giá trị lịch sử và văn hoá cao, xem như là Di sản Thế Giới, cho toàn thể loài người.
Việt Nam có 5 cảnh quan được xem là Di sản Thế Giới của UNESCO: Cổ thành Huế, Vịnh Hạ Long, Thánh địa Mỹ Sơn, động Phong Nha–Kẻ Bàng, Phố cổ Hội An.
Mình vừa làm xong file PPS này gồm một số Di sản Thế giới nổi tiếng, post đây để chia sẻ với các bạn. Hình ảnh trong file này lấy từ MSNBC.

Koto là đàn tranh của Nhật, tương tự như đàn tranh của Việt Nam hay Trung Quốc. Nhưng đàn Koto thường chỉ có 13 dây, thay vì 16 dây như đàn tranh Việt (thập lục huyền cầm) hay đôi khi lên đến 36 dây ở Trung quốc (tam thập lục huyền cầm).
Tiếng đàn Koto trầm hơn, cứng hơn, mạnh mẽ hơn, và đôi khi cô đơn hơn, tiếng đàn tranh Việt và đàn tranh Trung quốc.
Koto chiếm vị trí trung tâm trong âm nhạc truyền thống Nhật Bản và thường song tấu với Shakuhachi, sáo Nhật. Đây là loại sáo tre thổi một đầu, phải gọi là “địch” mới đúng, có tiếng trầm buồn hơn tiếng sáo thổi ngang.
Trong âm nhạc New Age với âm hường đông phượng hiện thịnh hành ở phương tây, dùng như nhạc meditation, Koto và Shakuhachi cũng đóng một vai chính yếu.

Hôm nay chúng ta cùng nghe bản “Forever Young” của nhạc sĩ Bob Dylan.
Tại kỷ niệm 50 năm đại nhạc hội Newport Folk Festival cuối tháng 8, 2009 vừa rồi ở Newport, Rhode Island, sau một số bài hát đồng quê và nhạc folk khá vui nhộn, đến lượt ca sĩ Joan Baez biểu diễn.
Chị hát một số bài folk songs và nhạc Tin Lành. Cả sân vận động bỗng lặng yên sâu lắng vì hạnh phúc thật tràn ngập. Một trong những bài hát đó là bản Forever Young do anh Bob Dylan sáng tác, bài hát về lời cầu phước của người cha cho người con. Chị tâm sự, chị hát bài hát này vào cả hai dịp lễ, lễ cưới của con trai chị và kỷ niệm lễ cưới của bố mẹ chị.
Xin gửi tặng bài hát này cho các bạn sắp lập gia đình và những bạn đã có gia đình, hay đang tìm sự bình an.

Nhạc Xanh lại đem đến cho các bạn, đặc biệt các bạn rất trẻ của Đọt Chuối Non chương trình nhạc đặc biệt, theo yêu cầu.
Mình cũng đã từng một thời rất mê những chuyện cổ tích, những phim hoạt hình và âm nhạc trong các bộ phim như Lọ Lem, Hoa Mộc Lan, Aladin, Vua Sư Tử. Và bây giờ cũng còn nghe nhạc phim Lion King …
Các bạn biết là nhạc Walt Disney trong những bộ phim rất quen thuộc với các em thiếu niên đến độ nghe nhạc dạo đầu và một hai câu hát các em đã có thể nhận biết tên bộ phim ngay.
Có thể nói nét đặc trưng nhất của Walt Disney là sự kết hợp tuyệt vời giữa kỹ thuật hoạt họa và âm nhạc. Quả thật, đấy là khác biệt lớn nhất giữa Walt Disney với nhiều hãng phim khác, và cũng là nguyên nhân mà Walt Disney thường xuyên nhận giải Oscar cho nhiều tác phẩm của mình từ năm 1942 đến 1995.
Sự thực là mỗi lần cho ra đời một tác phẩm, Walt Disney phải chuẩn bị ít nhất là 2 – 3 năm, trong đó đa số thời gian để dành cho việc sáng tác nhạc phim. Có rất nhiều phim dường như đã trở thành phim hoạt hình – ca nhạc, như Bambi (1942) chẳng hạn, phần thoại giữa các nhân vật được hạn chế đến mức tối đa, độ 950 câu. Tất cả những ý nghĩ, hành động đều đã được hình tượng hóa bằng lời ca tiếng hát.
Chắc chắn các bạn không thể nào quên được bài hát vào phim Bambi, “Love Is A Song”, đi vào tâm trí người nghe và khắc họa một hình ảnh tuyệt đẹp của rừng xanh hùng vĩ. “Love Is A Song” đã mang về cho Larry Morey (viết lời) và Frank Churchill (phổ nhạc) một giải thưởng dành cho bài hát hay nhất của Viện Hàn Lâm Ðiện ảnh – Khoa học – Nghệ thuật Hoa Kỳ năm đó.
Walt Disney còn gặt hái được nhiều giải Oscar về âm nhạc với nhiều thành công khác
từ những năm 50, mà đến nay còn làm say mê bao trái tim với những câu hát minh họa tuyệt vời :

Hôm nay chúng ta sẽ làm quen với tiếng đàn Shasimen của Nhật và cặp nghệ sĩ Shasimen thượng đẳng ngày nay–hai anh em Yoshida Brothers.
Shamisen, đôi khi còn viết samisen hay jamisen) là cây đàn truyền thống 3 dây, với một cần đàn dài cở cần đàn guitar nhưng nhỏ hơn rất nhiều và không chia ra thành phím. Người ta gảy đàn bằng một miếng gảy rất lớn cầm trong lòng bàn tay, gọi là Bachi. Thùng đàn nhỏ hình vuông và bịt kín hai mặt trước sau bằng da mèo hay da chó, như là mặt đàn Banjo của Mỹ, nhưng Banjo chỉ bịt mặt trên. Dây đàn xưa kia thường bằng lụa, ngày nay đôi khi bằng nilon. Tiếng đàn có âm thanh êm và trầm hơn tiếng đàn guitar và cũng không rền nhiều như tiếng guitar, mà có ảnh hưởng tiếng vang của mặt trống.
Hai anh em Yoshida Brothers, Ryōichirō Yoshida, sinh ngày 26 tháng 7 năm 1977 và Ken’ichi Yoshida, sinh ngày 16 tháng 12 năm 1979, tại Noboribetsu ở vùng Hokkaidō, Japan.
Yoshida Brothers chơi Shamisen từ lúc còn 4, 5 tuổi, bằng một loại nhạc Shamisen gọi là Tsugaru-jamisen, đến từ vùng Aomori ở miền bắc nước Nhật.
Album đầu tiên phát hành ở Nhật bán được 100 ngàn đĩa, làm cho chính hai anh em ngạc nhiên và trở thành sao nhỏ ở Nhật. Từ đó họ dần dầnnổi tiếng quốc tế và đến nay đã phát hành gần 30 albums quốc tế. Nintando game “Wii” phát hành năm 2006 ở Bắc Mỹ dùng nhạc nền là bản Kodo của Yoshida Brothers.
Tiếng đàn Shamisen của hai anh em đi với nhau thường nhanh như vũ bảo, với nhạc nền synthersizer và các âm thanh điện tử, nó thành một loại nhạc rock mới lạ. Không có nhạc nền, họ trinh diễn Shamisen như là một loại nhạc Samurai của thời hiệp sĩ hoàng kim xa xôi.

Hôm nay mình rất vui giới thiệu với các bạn một điệu Waltz tuyệt đẹp do chị Bùi Hương Ly gửi tặng các fan nhạc xanh của Đọt Chuối Non.
Điệu Waltz trên nền bài hát tiếng Ý Amore e Musica (Tình yêu và Âm nhạc) do anh Bizokas và chị Katusha Demidova biểu diễn tại The World Super Stars Dance Festival ở Nhật Bản năm 2008.
Khi xem video này, mình sững sờ vì điệu Waltz đẹp quá và rơi đúng vào cảm xúc mùa thu, lá vàng rơi chậm bay theo gió.

Hương Ly đầy tài năng và tích cực, Hương Ly mới sang Mỹ theo học năm thứ nhất đại học tại trường Verde Valley School ở Sedona, tiểu bang Arizona, Mỹ. Hiện nay và khi còn ở Hà Nội, Hương Ly tích cực tham gia các hoạt động tình nguyện giúp đỡ các bạn học sinh trung học và đại học thông tin về xin học bổng du học Mỹ qua tổ chức Vietabroader 🙂
Hương Ly khám phá ra niềm yêu thích khiêu vũ khi chị tham gia câu lạc bộ khiêu vũ thể thao ở trường Hà Nội Amsterdam, trường cấp ba cũ của chị. Hương Ly đặc biệt yêu thích điệu Waltz. Chị mơ ước sẽ khiêu vũ được như Katusha Demidova trong video. Cố lên, Hương Ly 🙂

Kirtaro là nhạc sĩ tượng trung cho nhạc New Age Nhật Bản, cũng như Yanni ở Mỹ. Sinh năm 1953, Kitaro tự học guitar từ lúc còn học trung học và lập ban nhạc Albatross ở Toyohashi Commercial High School. Sau khi xong trung học Kitaro lên Tokyo và ở đó chàng phát hiện cây synthersizer, cây thánh cầm của nhạc New Age, với âm thanh của mọi loại nhạc cụ, mọi loại dàn nhạc, và mọi loại tiếng động.
Khoảng đầu thập niên 70s, Kitaro chuyển sang keyboards (synthersizer) hoàn toàn. Chang nhập ban Far East Family Band và biểu diễn khắp Âu Châu. Tại Đức chàng gặp nhạc sỹ synthersizer Klaus Schulze và được truyền thêm một tí nghề synthersizer. Năm 1976 chàng rời ban nhạc Far East Family và du hành Đông Nam Á. Hôm nay Nhạc Xanh xin giới thiệu nhạc yêu cầu như đã hứa với một số bạn yêu nhạc. chúng ta sẽ nghe 14 bài hát của ban nhạc được rất nhiều bạn trẻ mến mộ: West Life
Westlife là một boyband nhạc pop đến từ Ireland và được thành lập năm 1998, ông bầu của nhóm là Louis Walsh. Nhóm đã đạt được thành công lớn ở Anh và Ireland cũng như ở các nước khác tại Châu Âu và một số nơi như Úc, Châu Á và Châu Phi.
Westlife đã có 14 đĩa đơn đạt vị trí #1 trong bảng xếp hạng Anh (tính từ năm 1999 đến năm 2006), xếp thứ 3 trong số những nghệ sĩ và ban nhạc có nhiều đĩa đơn #1 nhất tại Anh (chỉ sau Elvis Presley và The Beatles, xếp ngang với Cliff Richard). Westlife là ban nhạc duy nhất trong lịch sử bảng xếp hạng Anh có 7 đĩa đơn liên tiếp đạt vị trí #1 và giành giải “Ghi Âm của Năm” tại Anh 4 lần. Ban nhạc đã bán được tổng cộng 40 triệu album tại hơn 40 nước, 14 lần đĩa đơn #1 tại Anh và 13 lần đĩa đơn #1 tại Ireland.
Westlife được thành lập tháng 7 năm 1998 với năm thành viên: Mark Feehily, Shane Filan, Kian Egan, Nicky Byrne và Brian McFadden. Tên ban nhạc là Westlife xuất phát từ việc có 3 thành viên trong nhóm đến từ Sligo (Tây Bắc Ireland) (lúc đầu nhóm mang tên Westside nhưng do trùng với một nhóm nhạc khác nên đã đổi thành Westlife).
Lần xuất hiện đầu tiên của Westlife trước công chúng là khi nhóm hát mở màn cho tour diễn của Boyzone ở Dublin (Ireland) năm 1998.
Tháng 3 năm 1999, Westlife phát hành đĩa đơn đầu tiên “Swear It Again”. Đĩa đơn này nhanh chóng chiếm ngôi vị quán quân tại bảng xếp hạng Anh & Ireland. Nhóm tiếp tục đạt thành công khi liên tục có các đĩa đơn #1 trong bảng xếp hạng gồm: “If I Let You Go” (tháng 8/1999), “Flying Without Wings” (tháng 11/1999) và đĩa đơn đôi “I Have A Dream/Seasons In The Sun” (vào tuần đầu tiên của thiên niên kỷ mới). Album đầu tiên của nhóm được lấy tựa đơn giản “Westlife”, phát hành vào tháng 11/1999 và cũng đạt thành công lớn khi đứng #2 trong bảng xếp hạng Anh. Đĩa đơn cuối cùng của album này là “Fool Again” (#1 tháng 4/2000).
Album tiếp theo của nhóm được phát hành tháng 11/2000 với tên gọi “Coast To Coast” và nhanh chóng đạt vị trí quán quân trên bảng xếp hạng, đồng thời cũng trở thành album bán chạy thứ tư trong năm 2000 tại Anh. Đĩa đơn đầu tiên trích từ album này là một ca khúc song ca với nữ ca sĩ Mariah Carey với tựa đề “Against All Odds” (cover của Phil Collins) và đã đạt #1 tháng 9/2000. Đĩa đơn thứ hai của album là bản ballad “My Love” (#1 cuối tháng 11/2000), đồng thời cũng đưa nhóm trở thành ban nhạc đầu tiên trong lịch sử nền ghi âm ở Anh có 7 đĩa đơn liên tiếp đạt #1. Tuy nhiên kỷ lục này đã kết thúc khi đĩa đơn thứ 8 của nhóm, “What Makes A Man”, phát hành vào dịp giáng sinh năm 2000 chỉ đạt vị trí #2.
Vào năm 2001, nhóm đã thực hiện tour diễn đầu tiên vòng quanh thế giới. Tháng 9/2001, album thứ ba của Westlife được phát hành mang tên “World Of Our Own” (nhóm đồng sáng tác 8 ca khúc trong album). Album này đã đạt vị trí quán quân tại Anh và 4 đĩa đơn trích từ album cũng đều đạt thành công, gồm: “Uptown Girl” (phát hành tháng 2/2001 và đạt #1 nhưng sau đó mới được đưa và album), “Queen Of My Heart” (#1 tháng 11/2001), “World Of Our Own” (#1 tháng 2/2002) và “Bop Bop Baby” (#5 tháng 5/2002).
Ngày 9 tháng 3 năm 2004, Brian McFadden tuyên bố rời nhóm để dành nhiều thời gian hơn cho gia đình riêng. (Vợ Brian là Kerry Katona, cựu thành viên ban nhạc Atomic Kitten và họ đã có hai con gái là Molly & Lilly-Sue. Tuy nhiên, hai người đã chia tay tháng 11/2004.) Nhiều người tin rằng Westlife sẽ sớm tan rã nhưng sự thực không phải như vậy.
Với 4 thành viên còn lại, vào tháng 11/2004, Westlife đã phát hành album thứ sáu, “Allow Us To Be Frank”, với phong cách nhạc Swing và nhạc Jazz, gồm những ca khúc từ thập niên 1950, thập niên 1960 được cover lại của các nghệ sĩ như Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole… Album đã vươn tới vị trí #3 tại Anh.
Ngày 24 tháng 10 năm 2005, đĩa đơn “You Raise Me Up” được phát hành và nhanh chóng đạt vị trí số 1 trong bảng xếp hạng Anh. Một tuần lễ sau, nhóm phát hành album thứ bảy với tựa “Face To Face”. Album này lại đưa Westlife tới ngôi quán quân bảng xếp hạng, cùng thời điểm đó, “You Raise Me Up” vẫn đứng vững ở vị trí số 1, Westlife đã trở thành ban nhạc đầu tiên trong lịch sử tại Anh có đĩa đơn và album cùng đạt số 1 trong một tuần lễ. Các đĩa đơn còn lại trích từ album gồm: “When You Tell Me That You Love Me” (Song ca với Diana Ross, #2 tháng 12/2005), “Amazing” (#4 tháng 2/2006).
Vào năm 2007, Westlife đã ra album Back Home với 3 single rất thành công: Home, Us against the world và Something right.
Cuối năm 2008, nhóm nhạc tiếp tục thực hiện tour diễn “10 years of Westlife” tại Croke Park Stadium kỉ niệm chặng đường 10 năm thành lập nhóm và 1 tour diễn tại St.Patrick Park vào ngày 15 tháng 3 năm 2009. Mới đây, Westlife được xếp thứ 3 trong 5 nhóm nhạc vĩ đại nhất Anh quốc.
Nhóm đang thực hiện tiếp album thứ 10 của mình. Việc ghi âm được bắt đầu từ 1 tháng 7 năm 2009 ở Telefunken studios, Luân Đôn. Nhóm đã tuyên bố là sẽ làm việc thu âm 100% chất liệu mới, không cover và sẽ tiếp tục hát cho đến lúc họ có nhiều đĩa đơn hit #1 hơn The Beatles, nhóm nhạc duy nhất có nhiều đĩa đơn hit #1 hơn Westlife. Nhóm cũng nói rằng album mới sẽ có âm hưởng rock và không còn đơn thuần ballad.

Hôm đó, Pee Wee King đang lái chiếc xe truck và nghe radio, khi anh đang nghe “Kentucky Waltz” của Bill Monroe. Ở nơi đó, giai điệu Van xơ thật đẹp và lãng mạn.

Khi nghe cha mẹ bàn về bệnh tình của cậu em trai Andrew, những gì cô bé Tess thông minh lên 8 tuổi biết được là em mình mắc bênh rất nặng và gia đình đã cạn kiệt tiền. Gia đình họ sắp chuyển đến một khu chung cư vào tháng tới vì cha không có đủ để trả tiền nhà và tiền thuốc của bác sĩ. Cần có một ca phẫu thuật với chi phí rất cao mới có thể cứu được em trai nhưng ngặt nổi không có ai cho gia đình em vay mượn. Em nghe cha tuyệt vọng nói nhỏ với mẹ đang đầm đìa nước mắt: “Chỉ có phép nhiệm mầu mới có thể cứu được thằng bé thôi!”.
Tess về phòng mình và lôi ra từ chỗ giấu một hủ đựng kẹo bằng thủy tinh với số tiền em đã dành dụm bấy lâu nay. Cô bé đổ hết số tiền lẻ ra sàn đếm kỹ lưỡng, đến những 3 lần. Phải thật chinh xác về tổng số tiền. Không thể nhầm lẫn. Rồi cẩn thận bỏ số tiền xu vào hủ đậy nắp lại, em vội lẻn ra cửa sau và chạy thẳng đến một tiệm thuốc tây tên Rexall cách 6 khu nhà.
Em đứng trước cửa hiệu một cách kiên nhẫn để gợi sự chú ý của người dược sĩ, nhưng ông ta mãi chuyện với một người khác không buồn để ý đến một con bé 8 tuổi. Đoạn em dùng chân gõ lên sàn nhà. Không tác dụng. Em hắng giọng để tạo ra tiếng động khó chịu nhất nhưng vô ích. Cuối cùng em lấy một đồng 25 xu gõ mạnh lên tủ kính và người dược sĩ cất giọng một cách khó chịu: “Cháu muốn gì hả cháu bé? Ông ta nói ngay không đợi Tess trả lời. “Cháu không thấy ta đang nói chuyện với người anh từ Chicago xa cách bao nhiêu năm trời hay sao?”. Tess cũng trả lời với vẻ bực bội:
“Cháu cũng muốn nói chuyện với chú về em trai của cháu đây. Em ấy đang ốm, ốm nặng lắm, và cháu đến đây để mua … phép mầu nhiệm”.
“Cháu muốn mua gì?”. Người dược sĩ tròn mắt với vẻ không hiểu.
Em cháu tên là Andrew và em ấy chịu đựng cái gì đó đau lắm ở trong đầu. Cha cháu nói rằng chỉ có phép nhiệm mầu mới cứu được em. Vậy phép nhiệm mầu bán với giá bao nhiêu hả bác?”.
“Ở đây không bán thứ đó cháu bé ạ. Chú rất tiếc không giúp cháu được.” – giọng người dược sĩ dịu lại.
“Nhưng thưa chú, cháu có tiền trả mà. Nếu không đủ cháu sẽ đi mượn thêm. Xin cho cháu biết giá bao nhiêu ạ.” – giọng Tess van nài.
Người anh của ông dược sĩ ăn mặc rất đẹp. Ông nghiêng người xuống hỏi Tess: “Thế em cháu cần phép nhiệm mầu gì?” Tess trả lời như muốn khóc. ”Cháu không biết ạ,” Cháu chỉ biết em ốm nặng. Mẹ nói em cần được mổ. Nhưng bố không đủ tiền trả, vì vậy cháu muốn dùng tiền của cháu.”
Ông ta hỏi, “Thế cháu có bao nhiêu?”
” 1 đô và 11 xu. Đó là những gì cháu có, nhưng cháu có thể mượn thêm được mà.” Tess nói to.

Em trai Andrew hồi phục nhanh và sống khoẻ mạnh. Cha mẹ Tess vui hơn lúc nào hết về chuỗi sự việc đưa đẩy đến. Mẹ em thì thầm: ” Bác sĩ giải phẫu ấy, thật sự là một phép màu. Mẹ không biết mình phải trả bao nhiêu tiền? “.
Tess mỉm cười. Cô bé biết chính xác số tiền đó…1 đô và 11 xu… cộng thêm niềm tin chân thành của một đứa trẻ.

Tess was a precocious eight years old when she heard her Mom and Dad talking about her little brother, Andrew. All she knew was that he was very sick and they were completely out of money. They were moving to an apartment complex next month because Daddy didn’t have the money for the doctor bills and our house. Only a very costly surgery could save him now and it was looking like there was no-one to loan them the money.She heard Daddy say to her tearful Mother with whispered desperation, “Only a miracle can save him now.”
Tess went to her bedroom and pulled a glass jelly jar from its hiding place in the closet. She poured all the change out on the floor and counted it carefully. Three times, even. The total had to be exactly perfect. No chance here for mistakes. Carefully placing the coins back in the jar and twisting on the cap, she slipped out the back door and made her way 6 blocks to Rexall’s Drug Store with the big red Indian Chief sign above the door.
She waited patiently for the pharmacist to give her some attention but he was too intently talking to another man to be bothered by an eight year old at this moment. Tess twisted her feet to make a scuffing noise. Nothing. She cleared her throat with the most disgusting sound she could muster. No good. Finally she took a quarter from her jar and banged it on the glass counter. That did it!
“And what do you want?” the pharmacist asked in an annoyed tone of voice. “I’m talking to my brother from Chicago whom I haven’t seen in ages,” he said without waiting for a reply to his question.
“Well, I want to talk to you about my brother,” Tess answered back in the same annoyed tone. “He’s really, really sick … and I want to buy a miracle.”
“I beg your pardon?” said the pharmacist, giving her a surprised look.
“His name is Andrew and he has something bad growing inside his head and my Daddy says only a miracle can save him now. So how much does a miracle cost?”
“We don’t sell miracles here, little girl. I’m sorry but I can’t help you.” the pharmacist said, softening a little.
”Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn’t enough, I will get the rest. Just tell me how much it costs, ” Tess begged.
The pharmacist’s brother was a well dressed man. He stooped down and asked the little girl, “What kind of a miracle does you brother need?”
“I don’t know,” Tess replied with her eyes welling up. “I just know he’s really sick and Mommy says he needs a operation. But my Daddy can’t pay for it, so I want to use my money. “How much do you have?” asked the man from Chicago.
“One dollar and eleven cents,” Tess answered barely audibly. “And it’s all the money I have, but I can get some more if I need to.”
“Well, what a coincidence,” smiled the man. “A dollar and eleven cents — the exact price of a miracle for little brothers.” He took her money in one hand and with the other hand he grasped her and said, “Take me to where you live. I want to see your brother and meet your parents. Let’s see if I have the kind of miracle you need.”
That well dressed man was Dr. Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon, specializing in neuro-surgery. The operation was completed without charge and it wasn’t long until Andrew was home again and doing well. Mom and Dad were happily talking about the chain of events that had led them to this place. “That surgery,” her mom whispered. “was a real miracle. I wonder how much it would have cost?”
Tess smiled. She knew exactly how much a miracle cost… one dollar and eleven cents….plus the faith of a little child.

Năm 2008, bộ phim “Mamma Mia!” trong đó được công chiếu ,và đạt giải thưởng cao ở nhiều nước. Album nhạc phim “Mamma Mia!”, bộ phim ca nhạc rất ăn khách với những ca khúc nổi tiếng của ban nhạc huyền thoại ABBA giành vị trí số 1 trong bảng xếp hạng album bán chạy nhất Bắc Mỹ, Billboard 200
Năm 2008, album “ABBA Gold: Greatest Hits” trở thành album đứng đầu bản xếp hạng nhiều lần nhất ở Anh, xếp vị trí thứ ba trong số các album bán chạy nhất ở Anh.
ABBA đã được đề cử vào Vocal Group Hall of Fame ( Đại Sảnh Danh Vọng) và trong năm 2009 này được đề cử lưu danh vào Bảo tàng Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tại Mỹ.
