Good news for forest animals

VNS – Updated  August, 15 2015 12:00:00

Luckily for animals like the langurs and the gibbons, their forest homes are going to get more protection.

This will be happening because of an agreement between Viet Nam government agencies and an international environmental organisation.

It will mean that more work will be done to help guards who protect the forests from people wishing to destroy them and the creatures that live in them.

“I want my son to live a happy, normal life like all other children. And I’ll be there to watch him grow up.”

August 2015—When Hieu Trinh Thi married five years ago, she knew that her husband Truong might be HIV positive since he had been an intravenous drug user in the past. In Hai Phong, Vietnam, where the couple lives, 44 percent of people who inject drugs are infected with the virus.

Hieu knew too that she was at risk of contracting HIV from Truong, if she hadn’t already. But the abstract idea of the virus didn’t outweigh her love for the motorbike taxi driver, and the couple wed in the fall of 2010.

Viet Nam should be proud of its record in promoting economic growth and poverty reduction, United Nations resident co-ordinator Pratibha Mehta told Viet Nam News Agency.

On September 2, 1945, in the Declaration of Independence to establish the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam, President Ho Chi Minh quoted the US Declaration of Independence saying: “All men are created equally. They are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness”. Throughout the past 70 years, Viet Nam has been striving for a better life for its people. What would be your comments on Viet Nam’s efforts in promoting human rights, especially with regard to economic growth and poverty reduction? To be continued on CVD

Vietnam is the most investment worthy place in ASEAN – this is a common response of many foreign investors when being asked about their investment plan in the upcoming years.

This is not an exaggeration about Vietnam’s current investment environment as well as its potentiality but is in fact based on valid and practical grounds, where improved economic diversification, international integration, reformed investment legislation and good economic policy must be counted.
