Những ca khúc Việt cổ

Dear brothers and sisters,

Ancient Vietnamese songs, exactly, ancient songs of ethnic minorities in Vietnam, are collected and arranged by Lê Cát Trọng Lý and Nguyễn Thanh Tú. Then Lý put Kinh lyrics into the songs.

This is the music of the people, of grandmothers, of mothers, of midwives, of shamans, of children, of undertakers… So the songs come from simple daily life. Continue reading Những ca khúc Việt cổ

The Empty Tomb

20 Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!”

Jesus Sentenced to Be Crucified

Jesus Arrested

18 When he had finished praying, Jesus left with his disciples and crossed the Kidron Valley. On the other side there was a garden, and he and his disciples went into it.

Now Judas, who betrayed him, knew the place, because Jesus had often met there with his disciples. So Judas came to the garden, guiding a detachment of soldiers and some officials from the chief priests and the Pharisees. They were carrying torches, lanterns and weapons.

Keep on the sunny side

Dear brothers and sisters,

What do you do when you are tired?

Praying to God and Buddha?

Good.

However, if you work in a building and do not go out in the sun, or if you go out in the sun, you wear sun-protective clothing, then you will easily feel that your prayers are not heard and feel more stressed. Continue reading Keep on the sunny side

Chapters 13 to 17 contain Jesus’ teachings during the Last Supper,

16 “All this I have told you so that you will not fall away. They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God. They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me. I have told you this, so that when their time comes you will remember that I warned you about them. I did not tell you this from the beginning because I was with you, but now I am going to him who sent me. None of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ Rather, you are filled with grief because I have said these things. But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because people do not believe in me; 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.

Vì nhân dân quên mình

Dear brothers and sisters,

Jesus said: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends (John 15:13).”

The soldiers of the Vietnam People’s Army lay down their lives for us – greater love has no one than.

The song “For the people, forget yourself (Vì nhân dân quên mình)” was composed by Doan Quang Khai (student of Vietnam Army School) in May 1951. This is the first and only song in Doan Quang Khai’s composing career. Continue reading Vì nhân dân quên mình

Jesus Comforts His Disciples

14 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God[a]; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

Nhạc Kinh Pháp Cú – Verses 1 and verses 35

Dear brothers and sisters,

Anh Hoành wrote in A brief exposition on the Heart Sutra (12):

“Suffering, ultimately, is a mental phenomenon.  Even if the stimulus is external, such as a hard slap on the face, it is still the mind that suffers or not—if your cheek is burning from the slap but your mind feels happy about it, then where is the suffering?  Therefore, Buddhism teaches the extinction of suffering by teaching us to control our mind, i.e., to keep the mind tranquil at all time.  The mind is the beginning and the end—the mind is ignorance and Buddha. Jesus Washes His Disciples’ Feet

13 It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus.
