Good v. bad – the chocolate battle

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Good versus bad is not necessarily the Devil versus God as people imagine. Oh, maybe once in a blue moon, it is the Devil v. God, but most of the time in our daily life, it is chocolate or no chocolate.

I want to be slim and good looking, I try to stay away from sweets, but this piece of Swiss chocolate with Cognac and truffle inside smells so good and looks so deliciously inviting – to eat or not to eat? How could I waste such a culinary master piece?

I eat it – that is Bad, the Devil, Defeat.

No, I don’t eat it – that is Good, God, Victory.

We fight this chocolate battle probably 20 times each day:

• Should I curse her to teach her a lesson, or should I be sweet and gentle to be her example?
• Should I say good things about him or bad things about him?
• Should I preach to her about harm and benefit, or should I stay quiet, so she can learn from her own experience?
• Late already. Should I drive really fast, breaking traffic law and courtesy, or should I drive safely and courteously as normal?
• This boy looks stupid, should I use the normal selling price, or should I double the price with him?
• Should I tell him the truth that I have been busy all week with too many things on my plate, or should I tell him I have been sick all week?

My friends, the chocolate battle between the Devil and God comes to us probably 20 times a day like that. If we are not attentive to our mind and heart, we don’t even know we go through many chocolate battles in the day, not mentioning winning them.

If you are not attentive, God loses constantly, S/he cries for you and say: “Sorry, I can’t help you if you don’t help yourself, my son/daughter.”

With compassion,

Hoành
