Dear Brothers and Sisters,
After you have finished our life journey – coming back to God, the Buddha, Trời Đất – what would be your legacy for your children and grandchildren?
Most people would immediately think about money and properties, for the kids.
Well, money and properties can’t be a lasting legacy, because the kids may squander all of them in a year, or a month.
Indeed, legacy more often indicates some lasting effects on the future generations, such as a legacy of a new style of painting art, or a revolutionary philosophy, or a new way to serve the country…
So, what would be your legacy for your descendants – a burning love for the poor? a supreme dedication to improve the country’s education? a serene love for our ethnic minority brothers and sisters? a dedication to study and teach the Buddha’s teaching to the mass?…
Legacy usually is a spiritual value that one leaves for his/her descendants, for them to be inspired, follow, and maintain.
We all shall die one day. Think about leaving something of real value for your descendants, for them to keep all their life, as keeping diamonds in their mental pockets.
Think about how hard your life has been, with groping around in the dark to find the Truth. Now you have found the Truth, leave it as a legacy to your descendants, to make their lives easier and more meaningful.
With compassion,
Hoành
