Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Everyone of us focuses on our self – me, my job, my reputation, my power, my house, my car, my career, my life…
Nothing is wrong with that. The first person we need to take care of is our self. We need to stay alive first, everything else is second.
But all the spiritual traditions – Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism – teach us to focus on others – everyone around us, the world, all humanity.
My friends, the matter is much simpler than you think. You don’t have to abandon your self to serve the world. You need to stay alive to serve the world.
All you need to do is to change your way of thinking. Instead of me, of me, by me, from me, for me, you think: “everything I am doing now is to serve everybody, the world, the whole humanity.”
You don’t have to change job or do anything different from what you are doing. You just have to be conscious that whatever you are doing has a true purpose of serving humanity. And you is a part of humanity – you serve your self and humanity at the same time.
Life purpose is a matter of thinking and vision, not a matter of job or work.
Do you understand?
With compassion,
Hoành
