Justice for me

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We have heard “Justice for all” – for me, for you, and for everyone else.

But I tell you: If you are wise, forget about justice for yourself. Meaning, remind yourself: “I don’t care about justice for me.”

Why?

Because each day crazy people violate your justice about 100 times – An idiot illegally cuts in front of your vehicle and still is brazen enough to curse you: “ Stupid driver”; the vegetable lady sells you “clean vegetable” which has lots of bugs; the sugarcane-juice girl has just filled your to-go cup with ice full to the rim and, of course, with little real juice; the online fashion company delivers to you a dress that looks like a piece of rag, compared to the dress on their model whose picture they post on their site; a friend badmouths about you to another friend; you post your article on your Facebook, someone says on his Facebook that you are an idiot, although the way he writes, you know he knows zero about the subject matter; the guy buying a pair of shoes two days ago calls and says those shoes are fake and you are a cheater (although you know they are authentic); your girl friend calls and screams: “You are a liar and a cheater. I saw you with a girl in the icecream shop yesterday” (although you don’t remember seeing anyone at an icecream shop or any shop yesterday); someone has just stolen your sandals placed on the front step of your house; a fast truck spashes road water all over you; and maybe 100 more events of the day.

If you try to gain justice for you for each daily happening like that, then (1) you will never be able to get justice, and (2) in addition, you will be stressed all day, from the beginning till the end of the day, and probably continue to be stressed in your sleep.

And if you do that each day, you will be sick and die very soon.

So, the wise person should ignore “justice for me” – ignoring all those crazy daily events. Look at them as funny events and smile at them. That would make your day and your life stress free and happy. And you will have a long healthy life.

However, pay attention to justice for others – the poor, the oppessed, the abused, the downtrodden. They need us to pay attention to their injustice and they need us to support and fight for their justice.

With compassion,

Hoành
