Be good in interpersonal communication

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Many people we meet, we feel that they are either reserved or insincere. Once in a long while we meet someone with an aura of sincerity. If you are sensitive to people, you will understand a person fairly well, just by talking with the person for a couple of minutes. That skill is natural. If you’re sensitive to a person, you’re sensitive to everything about him, the way he sits, the way he talks, his eyes, his head, his body movements, the tone of his voice… All those things say a lot about the person. So, if you’re sensitive to people, meaning sensitive to everyone, you can understand everyone very well.

The above observation gives us two lessons:

1. People can see your true self. What type of person you are? Are you trustworthy? Are you good worker? Are you serious? Are you creative? Can people rely on you? These questions about you, many people can have the answers just by talking with you for a couple of minutes.

Of course, the people with the skill to know others instantly like that is few and far in between. Only people who are sensitive to people, meaning caring about people, have that skill. Insensitive people will judge you whenever they meet you, but they usually don’t see the true you – they only see you through their negative and judging eyes, which distort their vision greatly toward negativity.

Sensitive people see you with a caring and undistorted vision.

Here the lesson for you is that quite a few people can see your true self – whatever you have inside, they can see from outside.

It is hard to hide our true self. So, don’t count on your fashionable clothes, hairstyles, makeup and sweet talks to show the nice you. You have to be nice in your heart for your niceness to shine through. If you have untrustworthiness in your heart, it also will show through.

So, if you want people to like and respect you, to be successful in life, make sure you have the good inside. You can’t count on outside appearance and pretension to win people’s hearts.

2. The second lesson is that if you care about people, all people, you will be sensitive to and understand all people. That is a super-important skill to use throughout your life, in diplomacy, in politics, in commerce, in every kind of job… generally, in interpersonal communication.

Having a good skill in interpersonal communication will surely bring you success in your job, whatever that job is, and in your living.

Wish we all be skillful in interpersonal communication.

With compassion,

Hoành
