The KAAD, by its German name in full known as Katholischer Akademischer Auslander-Dienst (the Catholic Academic Support Service for Foreign Students, Germany) has, since long, provided scholarships for young professionals in need of such support from countries around the world.

you can apply if you:

* come from a developing or emerging country in Africa, Asia, the Middle East or Latin America
* have a university degree and professional experience from your home country
* want to acquire a master’s degree or a PhD at a German university or do a post-doctoral research project (2-6 months for established university lecturers) at a German university

Erasmus Mundus – IMRD Scholarships

The deadline for applying for Academic year 2011-2013 (IMRD Program 2011-2013) is December 31, 2010

The joint International Master in Rural Development (IMRD), part of the European Erasmus Mundus program, offers the opportunity to study the European vision on rural development in its diversity of approaches and applications.

The objective is to train specialists in integrated rural development, focussed on socio-economic and institutional aspects, not only from the European Union but also from developed, developing and transition countries outside the European Union through a 2 year master program (120 ECTS) jointly organised by seven European leading institutes in agricultural economics and rural development.

Erasmus Mundus – AFEPA Schlolarships

European and non-European students can apply again for admission and Erasmus Mundus (EM) scholarships for the 2011-12 academic year from September 1, 2010 to January 10, 2011.

The European Master in Agricultural, Food and Environmental Policy Analysis (AFEPA) aims at providing a high quality education in designing and assessing public policies targeted to the agricultural and food sector as well as the rural environment. This European Master responds to the increasing need to better understand and anticipate the various and often complex socio-economic and environmental effects of these policies either in a functioning market economy as in the European Union or in economies in a development or transition phase.

The European Master offers a two-year academic curriculum with integrated and advanced theoretical, methodological and empirical courses in economics and quantitative methods as well as in agricultural, food and environmental sciences, agricultural and trade policy, environmental and natural resource policy, rural development policy and agribusiness management and market analysis.

FSC Scholarships

The Food Security Center (FSC) is a university center of excellence in development collaboration at

the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany. FSC is one of five excellence centers of the pro-

gram “exceed – Higher Education Excellence in Development Cooperation”, which is supported by

the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds of the Federal Ministry of Economic

Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of Germany. FSC’s mission is to make effective and innova-

tive scientific contributions in research, teaching, and policy advice to eradicate hunger and achieve

food security in collaboration with partner research and education organizations in Africa, Asia, and

Latin America and national and international development and research organizations. Thematically,

FSC’s activities deal with issues of sustainable food availability, food access, food use, and food

utilization. FSC awards up to 29 scholarships.

For Academic Year 2011-2012, approximately 17 scholarships will be available (EU/non-EU).

Category A students awarded with an Erasmus Mundus Scholarships receive a total of approx. €48.000 during the 2 years of studies. This is a full scholarship that should cover yearly tuition fee, living expenses and travel expenses.
