Ký tên hủy bỏ dự án nhiệt điện than Long An

CVD và báo đài trong nước đã có nhiều loạt bài nói về sự nguy hại của việc Việt Nam tiếp tục xây dựng các nhà máy nhiệt điện như ở Long An. Những tác hại lớn của nhiệt điện mang đến như ảnh hưởng nghiêm trọng đến sức khoẻ cộng đồng do ô nhiễm không khí, huỷ hoại môi trường sống, là bước tụt hậu về chiến lược phát triển năng lượng tái tạo… trong khi thế giới đang phát triển năng lượng tái tạo.

Chúng ta cần lên tiếng về vấn đề này. Mời các cùng ký tên kiến nghị huỷ bỏ dự án nhiệt điện than Long An theo link dưới đây:

Activists dedicated to conserving endangered doucs in Da Nang

Over the past few years, a group of veterinary engineers and volunteers have been devoted to the rescue and care of animals, particularly the endangered red-shanked doucs, found on Son Tra Peninsula in the central Vietnamese city of Da Nang.

GreenViet, a Vietnamese animal rights group founded in 2012, has been conducting research and raising people’s awareness of the biodiversity in the central region and the Central Highlands, particularly in conserving the red-shanked douc population on Son Tra.

Vietnam province requests relocation of 20,000 houses over riverbank collapse

Authorities in the southern Vietnamese province of An Giang have requested the relocation of 20,000 households due to the threat of increasingly serious subsidence along local rivers.

A delegation from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment convened a working session with authorities in An Giang on Tuesday evening, discussing the collapse of the Vam Nao riverbank that sunk at least 14 houses last weekend.

Construction of Masan’s $44mn pig farm ceases in central Vietnam

The pig farm developed by Masan Nutri – Farm Company, a Masan Group subsidiary, is being built in the north-central Vietnamese province of Nghe An.

The construction of a VND1 trillion (US$44.2 million) pig farm being built by Vietnamese food producer Masan Group has been suspended in the north-central province of Nghe An due to a lack of legitimate paperwork.

Following a directive from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Nghe An People’s Committee on Wednesday ordered that construction on the project be ceased.

(PL)- Phú Yên cho doanh nghiệp phá hơn 100 ha rừng phòng hộ ven biển để làm sân golf khi chưa giao đất, chưa chuyển mục đích sử dụng…

Ngày 21-4, ông Mai Kim Lộc, Phó Giám đốc Sở TN&MT tỉnh Phú Yên, xác nhận UBND tỉnh đã cho phép phá 116 ha rừng phòng hộ ven biển tại xã An Phú, TP Tuy Hòa để Công ty TNHH New City Việt Nam thực hiện dự án khu du lịch cao cấp New City Việt Nam.

Điều đáng nói là khu rừng phòng hộ ven biển này bị phá trắng nhưng đến nay vẫn chưa trình hồ sơ lên Thủ tướng để xin chuyển mục đích sử dụng đất.

Six years ago in Ca Mau province, the ‘metropolis’ of the aquaculture and seafood processing industry, shrimp shells discharged from processing were in piles as high as a mountain.

Every day, Minh Phu Seafood JSC threw away 50-100 tons of shrimp heads and shells. The mountain of shrimp waste produced a bad odor after being exposed to the sun and rain.

Locals barricade road to save environment in southern Vietnam

Residents in the southern Vietnamese province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau have blocked a local road as a last resort in their battle against the damage and pollution caused by trucks traveling to and from a nearby port.

The barricade first went up around 8:30 am on Wednesday, when residents living along the road leading to the Duc Hanh Inland Port in Tan Phuoc Commune, Tan Thanh District decided they had finally had enough.

Permanent measures sought to prevent fish deaths in Saigon’s iconic canal

Experts and authorities in Ho Chi Minh City are concerned over the mass fish deaths occurring in an iconic canal following unseasonal rains.

The phenomenon has been happening for years along the Nhieu Loc- Thi Nghe Canal, typically at the beginning of the annual rainy season, though unseasonal downpours earlier this month seem to have had the same fatal affect on the canal’s marine life.

Though the reason behind the phenomenon has already been determined, a variety of proposed solutions has failed to bring about a permanent fix.

mekongeye_At the end of June 2016, WLE Greater Mekong published a series of maps identifying dams on the Irrawaddy, Salween, Mekong, and Red rivers and their tributaries. The maps cover existing dams, dams under construction, planned dams, and cancelled dams; both irrigation dams and hydroelectric dams are mapped, as long as they have a reservoir size of at least 0.5 km2 and/or have an installed capacity of at least 15 megawatts (for hydroelectric dams).

The following is the first half of an interview that took place on 8 July 2016, between Dr Kim Geheb—the WLE Greater Mekong Regional Coordinator — and the editor of Thrive. It is being published here in anticipation of the Great Mekong Forum on Water, Food, and Energy.

HÀ NỘI — The country’s wild bear population has declined sharply over the past 20 years, according to recent surveys carried out in 22 protected areas.

The surveys were part of a three-year collaborative project by the Centre for Environment and Rural Development at Vinh University with the support of the conservation and animal welfare organisation Free the Bears and Animals Asia.

The problem was discussed at a conference about sinking threat and solution for the Mekong Delta on March 21 in Can Tho City.

According to the results from Rise and Fall Project held by Can Tho University and Utrecht University in Netherlands, many rural lands have a subsidence rate of 10-20mm a year, this rate is 25mm in urban and industrial areas.
