The world is rolling backward, and at a disturbingly faster pace, in the struggle to limit carnage from land mines and other booby-trap explosives. The most recent numbers, covering 2016, are appalling.

Known casualties that year came to 8,605, including 2,089 deaths, according to a new report by Landmine Monitor, a research arm of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines. The toll was nearly 25 percent higher than the 6,967 maimed and dead counted a year earlier, and more than double the 3,993 in 2014. And these numbers are almost assuredly an undercount. “In some states and areas, numerous casualties go unrecorded,” Landmine Monitor said.

Vietnam Railway (VNR) has announced that the first container block train connecting Vietnam with China arrived at Yen Vien Station, Hanoi, on November 25.

Earlier on November 25, VNR and China Railway (CR) jointly held a ceremony to welcome the container block train at Dong Dang Station in Vietnam’s northern province of Lang Son.

The train departed from Huanggang Station in Nanchang city, Jiangxi province, China, on November 22 and arrived at the Yen Vien Station in Hanoi on November 25.

VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnam has been warned that it will receive a yellow card if it doesn’t implement EU demands on fighting IUU (illegal, unreported and unregulated) fishing.

Ngo Viet Hoai, deputy general director of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Seafood Processing & Import/Export Company, said if the EU gives a yellow card warning, 100 percent of seafood containers to be exported to the EU will be subject to inspection in terms of fishing sources.
