Nearly 33,000 Vietnamese granted US citizenship in 2023

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) reports that 32,800 Vietnamese nationals were naturalized as U.S. citizens in 2023, ranking Vietnam among the top ten nations with most citizenship naturalization in the U.S.
The government agency’s recent report reveals that the U.S. naturalized 878,000 individuals in 2023, marking one of the highest counts in recent years. Naturalizations during the fiscal years 2022 and 2023 account for 24% of all U.S. naturalizations in the last decade, with over 7.7 million new citizens welcomed during this time.
Vietnam was ranked sixth among the countries with the highest numbers of citizens gaining U.S. citizenship in 2023, with 32,800 individuals naturalized—an increase of 500 from 2022.

Cho tới nay thân thế của nhà văn Vũ Anh Khanh vẫn còn là một bí ẩn người ta chỉ biết ông tên thật là Võ Văn Khanh, sanh năm 1926 tại Mũi Né, quận Hải Long, tỉnh Bình Thuận. Trong giai đoạn từ năm 1945 đến năm 1950, Vũ Anh Khanh là một cây bút chuyên viết truyện ngắn và tiểu thuyết. Tác phẩm của ông gồm truyện dài như Nửa Bồ Xương Khô, Bạc Xíu Lìn, Cây Ná Trắc và các truyện ngắn như Đầm Ô Rô, Sông Máu, Bên Kia Sông… Tuy nhiên bài thơ “Tha La xóm đạo” mới làm cho rất nhiều người nhớ đến tên tuổi của ông mãi tận sau này. Dear Brothers and Sisters,
One day, while I was thinking about where I could buy fresh tea leaves in Sapa market, an old Black Hmong woman carrying on her back a rattan basket full of green tea leaves passed by my house.
From a distance, I called her. With a bamboo walking stick in her hand, she slowly came to me. This Hmong woman wore a traditional indigo costume. At an age of over 80, she was thin and had skin as brown as the colour of the soil in Sapa hills. The wrinkles on her forehead and around her eyes looked like the lines of rice terraces. Students killed in Bangladesh job-quota protests

At least six students have been killed and over a hundred injured in protests calling for an end to civil service job quotas in Bangladesh. The violence in the capital Dhaka on July 16, 2024, was the latest flare-up in a deepening conflict over the issue. Hundreds of university students demonstrated against the local government job allocation system, which currently favours children of pro-government groups who back Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Thousands have taken part in protests in several cities since July 7.
ADB keeps Việt Nam’s growth outlook unchanged

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) keeps the growth outlook for Việt Nam in 2024 and 2025 unchanged at 6 per cent and 6.2 per cent respectively, on the back of a strong first-half performance.

HÀ NỘI — The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has kept the growth outlook for Việt Nam in 2024 and 2025 unchanged at 6 per cent and 6.2 per cent respectively, on the back of a strong first-half performance in 2024.
The forecast was released on Wednesday in the latest edition of Asian Development Outlook (ADO), which periodically provides assessment of recent economic developments in Asia and the Pacific and medium-term macroeconomic projections for the region.

Trong bài Thành tố của tuyệt vời chúng ta nói “LÒNG TIN, Xa hơn hy vọng, lòng tin tuyệt đối vào chính mình, vào mục tiêu của mình, vào kết quả.”
“Lòng tin” chính là ngọn lửa, là đầu máy, là động lực khiến người lãnh đạo tiến bước và cuốn hút những người khác đi theo. Có lòng tin là có tất cả, không có lòng tin là không có gì cả. Ta có thể có tầm nhìn, có mục tiêu, có chiến lược; nhưng tất cả những điều đó vẫn chỉ là con đường. Đầu máy đưa ta đi trên con đường đó là lòng tin. Nếu không có tầm nhìn, đầu máy vẫn chạy được, mặc dù là có thể chạy vòng vòng một chỗ muôn năm. Nhưng nếu không có lòng tin, tức là không có đầu máy, thì chẳng có gì chuyển động—tầm nhìn, mục tiêu, chiến lược đều vô ích. Vì vậy chúng ta thường nghe những câu nói như, “Với lòng tin, mọi sự đều có thể. Nói đến nhạc Trịnh Công Sơn thì bài hát luôn luôn mình để hàng đầu là bài Tuổi Đá Buồn, không hẳn vì đây là bài hay nhất, vì TCS có rất nhiều bài hay, khó mà nói bài nào hay nhất. Nhưng Tuổi Đá Buồn là bài nhạc TCS đầu tiên mình, một cậu nhỏ 16 tuổi, được nghe rất tình cờ và sửng sốt.
Đó là một ngày hè, nắng rất trong và sáng. Mình đang học lớp đệ nhị (ngày nay là lớp 11) Trường Dòng Chúa Cứu Thế ở đường Kỳ Đồng, Sài Gòn. Lớp học thời đó 2 buổi, cả sáng và chiều, và mình đang nghỉ trưa. Chẳng biết làm gì, mình đi bộ lại nhà thờ Dòng Chúa Cứu Thế cách đó chừng 300 thước, để vào nhà sách Đức Mẹ Hằng Cứu giúp trong khuôn viên nhà thờ nghe nhạc.
