Jesus,
Do you think
our pagodas need to be simpler
and quieter?
Pagodas should not be deep in tourism business.
Perhaps I should write about this issue.
I am a pencil in your hand.
Please use me to reveal your heart.
Amen.

In contrast to the wealth of information about the Jesuits in China and Japan, the parallel story of the Jesuit presence in Vietnam has received modest scholarly attention until recent decades. Even though the Portuguese and Italian Jesuits were instrumental in establishing Christian communities in both the ancient states of Cochinchina and Tonkin that make up the present-day Vietnam, their contribution were not properly acknowledged. Part of the problem is due to the fact that prior to 1945, Vietnam was known to the Western world largely as part of French Indochina, and thus Vietnamese Catholicism was seen in the same light—as an extension of French Catholicism. For three hundred years, from the 1660s to the 1960s, the Catholic Church in Vietnam was largely under the care of the Paris Foreign Mission Society (Missions Étrangères de Paris or MEP).
Jesus,
I wish
our people
from the young to the old
understand our history.
To understand our history
means to understand our ancestors.
To understand and to love.
How can we say we love people
when we don’t love our ancestors?
Amen.

Jesus,
Which of my prayers is the important prayer?
I think it’s Prayer 413.*
“Please take all things in my heart, mind and soul.
I wish they are empty
so that you can put anything you want into them.“
Why important?
Because it’s the prayer to be one with you.
Most of my prayers are similar to Prayer 413,
because to be one with you is important to me.
Amen.

Jesus,
I talk to you much
about all things
in every minute.
Perhaps thanks to sharing much,
we have a strong friendship.
Amen.

WHO – HA NOI, 02 MAY 2018 – New data from the World Health Organization (WHO) find that more than 60 000 deaths from heart disease, stroke, lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and pneumonia in Viet Nam in 2016 were linked to air pollution.
Clean air is a basic requirement for human health and well-being. That’s why WHO is working closely with the government and relevant stakeholders in Viet Nam to raise awareness on air pollution and identify ways to protect the public from the health impacts of air pollution.

Giêsu ơi,
Giêsu đã nói với Cha rằng:
“Cha ơi, xin tha thứ cho họ,
vì họ không biết họ đang làm gì.” (Luke 23:34).
Em theo Giêsu.
Em cũng nói với Giêsu:
“Giêsu ơi, xin tha thứ cho người ấy,
vì người ấy không biết họ đang làm gì.” Continue reading Lời cầu nguyện 553 – Prayer 553

Honduras, Guatemala Leaders to Meet on Migrant Caravan
Thousands of Honduran migrants rush across the border toward Mexico, in Tecun Uman, Guatemala, Oct. 19, 2018.
The presidents of Honduras and Guatemala are set to meet Saturday to implement a strategy to return a caravan of thousands of migrants to Honduras after U.S. President Donald Trump warned the convoy must be stopped before it reaches the U.S.
A standoff between the migrants and Mexican police continued as they settled on a bridge separating Guatemala and Mexico, with some clinging to the closed border gate crying “there are children here.”

Quang Tri (VNA) – The central province of Quang Tri has mobilised more than 20 projects and non-project aid packages worth over 4 million USD in the first nine months of the year to address the lingering consequences of bombs and mines left by wars across the locality.
The Mines Advisory Group (MAG) from the UK has agreed to provide an additional 2.5 million USD for their mine and bomb clearance programme in the province. The money will be used to fund the sixth phase of the programme, to be carried out from August 2018 to July 2021. The programme is expected to benefit 12,400 residents.
Jesus,
I realise
I look like you
when I am despised
because you were despised.*
I am blessed
when we are one.

* Isaiah 53:3 New International Version (NIV)
3 He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
