The USS Theodore Roosevelt arrived Thursday in Vietnam, becoming only the second U.S. aircraft carrier to make a port call there since the fall of Saigon in 1975.

HANOI — Samsung Electronics has started building a $220 million research and development center in Vietnam, the South Korean tech giant’s local unit said on Monday.
But a ground-breaking ceremony, scheduled for this past Saturday, was canceled because of a virus outbreak that led to travel restrictions on South Koreans, Hong Sun, the vice chairman of Korea Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, told Reuters.

ĐCSVN – Theo Hiệp hội Năng lượng Việt Nam, điện gió có thể thay thế nhiệt điện than, khí, phát điện 24/24 giờ…. Do đó, phát triển điện gió ngoài khơi sẽ là mũi nhọn, nòng cốt thay thế cho năng lượng hóa thạch hiện tại.
Việt Nam có tổng công suất gió ước tính khoảng 513.360 MW, lớn nhất khu vực Đông Nam Á, cao gấp 6 lần công suất dự kiến của ngành điện vào năm Đ2020 và lớn hơn nhiều so với tiềm năng các nước trong khu vực như Thái Lan (152.392 MW), Lào (182.252 MW) và Campuchia (26.000 MW).
Dù vậy, nước ta mới chỉ đưa vào một số dự án điện gió với tổng công suất hơn 300 MW, chậm so với mức 800 MW vào năm 2020 được nêu trong Quy hoạch điện VII (hiệu chỉnh).

Relations between the EU and some ASEAN member states have been tense in recent years because of the seafood trade, stemming from the European Commission’s (EC) sanctions related to the illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. As Chair of ASEAN 2020, Vietnam hopes to promote cooperation among ASEAN member states and address this issue to actively contribute towards better ASEAN-EU trade relations.
Mid-level managers’ salaries have been reduced by 20- 30 percent, Duong Tri Thanh, the CEO of the carrier, said.
The impact of the epidemic is “unprecedented in aviation history,” Thanh said.
Vietnam Airlines expects the number of passengers to decline by 2.5 million this year, and, as a result, revenues by VND12 trillion ($519 million).
